Grand Floridian question

What is the difference between a room at the Grand Floridian Resort and the Grand Floridian Villas? Does one have more amenities than the other? Which do you prefer and why? (If it matters, travel party is just me and DD30)

The Resort rooms are the regular hotel rooms and can be in any of the various outbuildings. The Villas are DVC and can be in the original Villas of the Grand Floridian building next to the Wedding Pavilion or in Big Pine Key. In the original VGF building you'll find Deluxe Studios, which have a queen bed, a queen Murphy bed, and a single Murphy bed, as well as 1, 2, and 3 bedroom villas. In Big Pine Key there are only Resort Studios, which are basically the same as the resort rooms in that they have two queen beds, but they also have a toaster and a microwave, in addition to a beverage cooler (which the regular resort rooms have too).

The DVC Studios, in the original Villas building, will provide a kitchenette, which includes a small kitchen sink, toaster, coffee pot, microwave and mini fridge. You'll also receive items such as cups, bowls, dishes and utensils. You’ll also have a bathroom and a half, which provides 2 showers and a tub. Your 2nd bed will be a Murphy bed.

If you book a 1 bedroom or more, you will have a full kitchen, washer/dryer, and more.

The Resort Villas, in the Big Pine Key Bldg., look more like a regular resort room, however, will provide a toaster, microwave and beverage cooler. You’ll also have 2 queen beds, just like a hotel room.

The GF Resort is a basic hotel room, however looks similar to the Resort Villas, minus the microwave and toaster.

The original villa building Deluxe Studios have a kitchenette, so a sink, toaster, microwave, cutlery, glassware, plates etc., whereas the hotel rooms do not. If you like to buy food and prepare breakfast (toast, bagels, cereal etc.) or make sandwiches in the room, then the villa studios are great for that. (larger villas have full kitchens and laundry, but studio vs. studio the kitchenette is the main amenity difference).

The 2BR villa is among the best rooms we've stayed at on property. There is a bubbler tub that really came in use after a long day of walking. The patio/deck is 3 rooms wide which provides a nice amount of elbow room. The decor is very nice, and the master bath space is well designed.

Check the confirmed reservations on dvc rental store site for GF villas. I was able to pick one up last Sept for a more reasonable rate (had always wanted to stay there).
