Grand Floridian question

Hoping I can get a bit of help here from the experts. I won a trip in that we will be taking in July and we're going to be staying at the Grand Floridian.

When I went to check with the confirmation number on the disney website today to make sure everything is set, under room type it says "Magic Kingdom View". Having never stayed here before I was just wondering if anyone could tell me where these rooms could possibly be located? I'm just curious. Thanks for any help anyone can give!

We went for our 5th anniversary and they upgraded us to an MK view room. Our room was in Boca Chica and had a diagonal view of the castle and a fairly direct view of the Contemporary. The Grand Floridian is a wonderful hotel. You will have a fantastic time.

Wow, that's a nice room. I agree that it will most likely be in Boca Chica. The GF is a great resort. My boys really enjoyed the pools there.

Thanks everyone! I'm getting very excited :)

I remember going to WDW years ago, for my honeymoon, when they were building GF.

I said to dh "I'm going to stay in that hotel someday"

His answer was "yeah, ok, sure you are" (in a calm, slow voice like he was talking to a crazy person)

Guess who's laughing now :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Wow! What a room category!! That is the nicest view you can get in the Lodge buildings. So, the free prize really set you up! :wizard:

Have a great trip! :goodvibes

Sago Cay, Conch Key, and Boca Chica all have MK/theme park views. From reports, I think some rooms in Big Pine Key are categorized that way, too. Conch Key and Sago Cay have direct views while those from the other two buildings are a bit oblique but also afford a panoramic view of Seven Seas Lagoon.

Congratulations! What an awesome prize!:wizard:

Sago Cay has the best views of the Magic Kingdom. Conch Key has very similiar views, but that building also has a tree that can be an obstruction for some of the rooms. I would definitely ask about Sago Cay at check-in.

Hi Tammi! I'd rather have Conch Key myself. It's closer to the MK and the views are more central.

The few rooms blocked by trees may be classified lagoon view anyway. I know at the Polynesian they are very careful about categorizing rooms with a semi blocked view as lagoon rather than Mk/theme park view. In addition, some of those rooms are actually suites.

No problem, it's just personal preference. I like Conch Key when we book a garden view room ;).

Unfortunately, unless the views have been recently recategorized, then those rooms are considered theme park view. I know that I've seen a number of posts from guests who were given one with a tree in front of it and asked to be moved.

I see your trip is coming up soon, have a great time!

I just knew I'd find a bunch of knowledgable people around here, you guys are the best.:thumbsup2

We were just there last week and had a Theme Park/MK view and we too were in Boca Chica room # 8421 and it was an AMAZING view. Not only could we see the castle perfectly but also the Contemporary, the Poly and Seven Seas Lagoon. You will LOVE it! Have a wonderful time.

:rotfl:And I prefer Boca Chica! The castle isn't straight ahead, but the view of the 7 Seas Lagoon, the Poly, the CR, and the MK with no pathway in between the room and the view makes it my favorite. That, and its proximity to the pools! Guess there's something for everyone!:)

Wow, that is a wonderful room!! The buildings that have Magic Kingdom view are Sago Cay, Conch Key, and Boca Chica. Most of these rooms have a full view of Cinderella's Castle. The Grand Floridian is my favorite hotel! :lovestruc It is so beautiful and I love the atmosphere. The cast members are really nice and are always there to help. Have a wonderful trip!

No help here on the room location, I just wanted to say awesome prize to win and congrats to your family. Have a great time. :cheer2:

Carrie - Congratulations on your trip :cutie:

We had a TPV in Big Pine Key last year (upgraded from GV), so I guess Sugar Loaf is the only building without TPV rooms.

We've been in every building at the GF (Boca Chica the most). Before they added the TPV view category, we had several LV rooms in Boca that had amazing Castle views :cloud9:

Best ever was from the Everglades Suite in Conch Key though ;) Dead-on :thumbsup2

Hope you have a great view and a great time

Carrie I know that your question has been answered but I want to say... CONGRATULATIONS!! on winning a trip to the GF...:woohoo:

BTW Boca Chica is my fave too...

Carrie - I'm just curious - how did you win a prize like that! Love to hear your story. Congrats to you - and you will LOVE the GF. The MK view is just a bonus to this great resort.
