Hi-
We are using points to stay at the Floridian in about 2 weeks and all we could get was garden view. For months, I was fine with it, but now that it's close I'm a little sad. I can't believe I am dissapointed, but I am. I feel like if we are splurging to go there, I wish I had a lagoon view. Does anyone have info on any of the following.....

Do they have lagoon rooms, but just not for DVC? I would guess they hold a certain number of rooms for paying guests only???

Has anyone ever gotten a FREE upgrade when using points at a non DVC resort? For example, if they have a lagoon when I check in?

Or, Can I pay the cash difference between the garden and lagoon view?

Thanks for any help you have to offer!

I can't help much with your questions because I've never used points at the GF. But we have stayed there on cash reservations so...

Almost all gardenview rooms have beautiful views. Some are of the marina while others face the pretty courtyards. One side of one building faces the monorail. I've only noticed one spot where I think the side view would not be very magical but even in those rooms, the rest of the view would be great and I think there might even be a little view of the MK in the opposite direction. So I would not worry about having garden view.

Guests on cash reservations must pay extra for lagoon view and book it that way.

Have fun. It is a beautiful resort with great dining options. :thumbsup2

We stayed in the GF one time, but not on points. We stayed in Sugar Loaf with the pool/garden view. It was really nice.

When we stayed at the CR on points, they told us they could not put us into any other room other than the one we reserved on points.

Thanks-
I guess that I should just be happy about the garden view. I was shocked that all the lagoon views were filled- I thought that the middle of August would be less crowded with kids going back to school! I'm sure any room at the Floridian will still be nice.

Stayed at the GF on a mix of points and cash last year. Our garden view room was perfect. Overlooked the pool and each night we could see the fireworks at the MK over the other buildings. We couldn't see the castle, but the resort was so compact it didn't matter, a short minute long walk and we were relaxing outside of Gasparilla's with a glass of wine looking at the castle.

Just got back from the GF a few days ago and have stayed there many times, but never on points. Many of the garden view rooms, especially the higher floors have firework views, although they may be somewhat limited by trees, other rooms, etc. If you are especially interested in views from your room, you could request to be in buildings Sago Cay or Conch Key which are closer to the dock and castle. We have found one of our favorite places to watch the fireworks is from the Narcoosees patio area. You can get a drink from the lounge area and they pipe in the music so you get the complete experience. We also enjoy watching the EWP from there as well. The GF is such a fantastic resort, any view will be great! Wishing you a wonderful trip! :wave2:
