I've never been to the GF so I can't comment on the aesthetics of a lobby bar, but whenever I read "birdcage lobby bar" my brain is thinking Nathan Lane which is probably not the vibe of this bar?

In general I am a fan of lobby or lobby adjacent bars, just to grab a quick drink for the walk to the room?

I’m surprised by this because the artistic rendering includes a person sitting on the lobby furniture with what looks a bottle of beer.

I don’t think a bar focused on pours excludes beer. Especially in FL, beer is just SO popular. They’d have people complaining day in, day out if a beer wasn’t on offer. If it was just a champagne bar, it would be weird but sounds more like it’s a no hard booze bar.

I fail to see how a glass of bubbly would be a detriment while walking into one’s room. I also miss the orchestra, and I truly worry about Poly-ing (40 million strollers and mayhem) the lobby more, but c’mon. It’s a champagne bar taking the place of a huge cage holding nothing. Like, what’s not to like?

Disney was able to pivot from providing a free musical experience to entertain guests in the lobby to charging a likely 10x markup on crappy alcohol and people are eating it up. They are truly marketing geniuses.

They sure are! The same way that they convince people that they are a member of a club with perks if you buy directly from them and pay 2x more. (Before resale restrictions which was another genius move on their part)
