Hi all ...

We were wondering if anyone has taken part in either the baking "class" they have for kids at the GF or gone on the Pirate scavanger hunt. We are considering both and would love any opinions/input. Our kids are 10 and 5 and we are traveling down this summer.

Thanks for any help!

Haven't done the baking class, or the Pirate cruise, but I have done the Alice in Wonderland Tea Party and it was wonderful. A very beautiful table is presented and Alice and the Mad Hatter officiate at the party.

My daughter has done all three of the GF’s children’s activities: the Grand Adventures in Cooking Class, the Pirates Cruise, and the Wonderland Tea Party. She always has a lot of fun.

After our trip last Fall, I had my daughter dictate to me what happened in each of the activities and I included her words in my trip report. If you’d like to read about the Pirates Cruise, click here and look for the post entitled “Grand Floridian Day Three, Part 1.” To read about the Wonderland Tea Party, look for the post on that same page that is entitled “Grand Floridian Day Three, Part 2.” If you’d like to read about the Grand Adventures in Cooking Class, click here and look for the post entitled “Grand Floridian Day Four, Part 1.” I have links in those posts to my on-line photo albums that contain photos of those events.

My daughter will be in all three of the children’s activities during our upcoming WDW vacation. She can’t wait.

My DD, who was 4 1/2 at the time of our last vacation, reluctantly participated in the Grand Adventures in Cooking, and wound up enjoying it very much! First they colored a paper chef's hat, then they painted aprons with each child's name written on it, then sang and danced while waiting for the aprons to dry. Next they helped to prepare and decorate gingerbread men, which they eventually handed out (about 50-60 cookies, I'd say) to passers-by in the GF lobby, while parents took photos of them (they all looked so cute in their hats and aprons!). All the recipients of the cookies made a big fuss over the "chefs" and their treats, and all the kids seemed to really be enjoying themselves.

My DD (4 at the time) has done all three of the kid's adventures at GF. She loved them and is planning to repeat again this August. When we were there the same two mature ladies did all of them so there was continuity throughout the week and they remembered DD. It was a great break for DH and me as well!

The Pirate Cruise is only offered on certain days and can fill up very fast. My advice is to make your ressies *exactly* 90 days in advance to guarantee a spot for your kids. :)

Thanks so much to all who responded! There's some terrific info. here ... I really appreciate it!
