We just booked a last minute stay at the Grand Floridian for July 8-12. it was the only MK resort available during that time. I booked a Garden View room but a lagoon view room was available but I couldn't really justify the $75 per night difference. Did I make a mistake?

If we keep a Garden View room, is there any particular building that is better than others?

Is there a way to make a fax room request for any specific type of room or building? The last time that we stayed at WL we were able to fax in a request for non smoking, bunk beds etc a week or so before the stay. Can we do anything like that for GF. I realized that when I made my reservation they didn't ask me about smoking/non smoking and my wife and both daughters have asthma so we really need a non smoking room.

Thanks for any help.

Just call reservations and have your requests noted in your reservation. Most resorts are not looking at faxes anymore.

Hey!
Guess you'll just have to suffer through and stay at The Grand :teeth:
I am staying at the GF in 9 days and again about a month later for a week. Both stays are in a Lagoon View room. I recently upgraded my July 4th weekend trip from garden to lagoon. :cloud9:
If you stick with the Garden view, you won't be disappointed! The GF is a beautiful, luxurious resort and really a magical Disney location. :wizard: The lagoon view will make your stay even more magical.
I always do the following:
When I make my reservation (or you can call back later an add it up to about 5 days before you arrive) I make a couple of requests, whether staying in Lagoon or Garden...
#1 Non-smoking
#2 Boca Chica building

Boca Chica is a non-smoking building and I love the decor. I was once given a room in this bldg., however, that REEKED of smoke and, luckily, was able to be moved.

Any building will do but I like Boca Chica best for its location (near to boat dock and "quiet" pool) and, as I mentioned, the decor. (It's called "Floral". Some of the other rooms are decorated in an Alice in Wonderland theme and some in Cameo and others in, I think, Wind in the Willows - all pretty subtle but I like the floral one best)
Garden view rooms overlook the "quiet" pool and the Main Bldg., which is gorgeous, especially lit up at night! Some - and I once had one - are on the short ends of the building and look out across walkways and on to other buildings. This isn't the end of the world but isn't great either ;)
The lagoon view rooms in Boca Chica look out at the Seven Seas lagoon. You have a very good chance of seeing Cinderella Castle from your balcony; You may see the monorail gliding past in the distance; you might very well see the Contemporary Resort or even the Polynesian Resort. You also may very well see Space Mountain over in the Magic Kingdom. I've always been able to see Cinderella Castle and Space Mountain from my Boca Chica lagoon view room :cool1:

I have read repeatedly that adding this request to your reservation and then following up at check-in with your preference, makes a fax unnecessary but I know some people still prefer to fax.

Good Luck! You and your girls will LOVE the GF princess: princess: princess:

We'll be at the GF July 1-12. This time we booked a lagoon view room but the past two stays we booked garden view and weren't disappointed. We requested Sago Cay marina view and it was great. Nice and relaxing and very close to Gasparillas for refillable mug, snacks and a great view of Wishes.
