So I'm thinking about changing one of our dinner ADR's from Ohana to Grand Floridian Cafe. I haven't heard much about it, but the menu looks yummy - and so do the photos of the fondue!!

So... does anybody have any thoughts on the GFC? Is the food as good as it sounds? What's the atmosphere like?

Plus... can one person order the fondue dessert on the dining plan, or do two people have to order it?

And if we do decide to eat here... yay! I can order the Cinderella slipper!! :Pinkbounc

I think the food at GF Cafe is very good. I don't like Ohana, so I would pick the GF Cafe over it any day. They have mini desserts .. size to have more than one! Yum!

It is very pretty inside. Ask for a table in the back near the windows if possible. The view of the grounds is very nice.

I'm sorry, I don't know anything about the fondue or the dining plan.

We had lunch at GFC last time, and have an ADR to do it again! My favorite dish in the whole trip was from GFC--pan-seared talapia over mango rice w/ pineapple chutney! The fondue does count as 2 desserts on the DDP, and it is definitely enough to share. Soooo good! It was our first time to go to the GF, so that in itself was very impressive! After lunch, we wandered around the grounds and checked out all the shops. I can only describe the atmosphere as Florida chic. I don't think they offer the Slipper dessert at lunch, but I think I will at least ask about it next time. You should definitely go, especially if you have never been to the GF.

I have not had dinner there, but breakfast was fantastic. It was fairly quiet and relaxed and we had a lovely table by the window. Everything was very good and the service was great as well (had a very personable server.)
I'd recommend it over 'Ohana just for the atmosphere alone ('Ohana is a bit on the loud side.)

We ate at GFC last year and really loved it. We showed up at 5:00 without an ADR and they were able to seat us after a 20 min wait. The food and service were excellent. :)

We had dinner there last Sept and liked it a lot; the food was very good, and the service was excellent. And after dinner we walked down to the dock and watched the fireworks.

Ooh, nice! Silly question... do you mean the MK fireworks? Was it a good view?

Thanks everybody, for your advice! I think we'll definitely go to the GFC now, instead of Ohana. The food suits us much better, and we get to have fondue! Yay!
