We just got back from special trip for my parents 50th anniversay. We ordered a cake from the bakery at the GF and I must say it was fabulous. The cake ended up being way to big for our party, but I don't think I have ever eaten a cake this good. If anyone has a special occasion and wants to get a cake I would highly recomend it. They only draw back is that we had to pick it up ourselves. My DH has to carry back on the bus.LOL

Sounds so yummy...where at the GF did he pick up the cake?

Kathylovesdisneyworl, congrats to your parents for such a successful marriage.

I have a few questions for you about the cake. What choices did you get as to cake & filling flavors? How many people did your cake serve? Did you have a choice as to how it was decorated? How far in advance did you order it? And lastly, do you have any photos of it to share with us?

hi:wave:

kathylovesdisneyworl, how far in advance did you order your cake and where do you pick it up from:D

The bakery at GF is very good and they can create any type of cake you wish. They do the wedding cakes for the weddings held there. Have to say the yellow with fresh strawberries in the middle is my favorite.

I do recommend that you call ahead of time just use the hotel main number and ask for the bakery, guest services also can help you. For pick up they can arrange to have it delivered to your room or you can go to the FD and they will go to the bakery and bring it out for you.

Other locations that have a bakery are the YC/BC and limited FW. FW has the best strawberry shortcake. Cant say enough good things about the bakery chefs at GF they are incredible.

Well, the cake was to die for. I called 5 days in advance just to make sure it was in time. I had my choice of fillings. We choice chocolate w/chocolate mouse for the bottom layer and vanilla w/ strawberrys and cream for the top. We asked for a cake that feed about 10 people but in reality the cake could have feed 50. They told us they do not deliver to other hotels. We had to pick it up.We just went to the front desk at the GF and they brought the cake to us. The cake cost $120, which was not bad except for us we only needed a small cake. One thing, depending on the filling it must be refrigerated, which we didn't have. Thank goodness for the front desk at POR. If you don't have a frig, make sure you ask about the different types of fillings and which ones need to be kept cool.

Kathylovesdisneyworl, the cake sounds scrumptious. Thank you so much for answering our questions. I'm using the GF Bakery for a special dessert during my upcoming trip, and you have me especially excited about it now. I can't wait.
