Heading to Orlando for a combo trip, universal & Disney. Doing Disney for 3 nights in April. We wanted to try Contemporary since we are only doing Magic Kingdom but the prices were insane with club level. Over 5,000 for 3 days! The cast member said he could get me in a outside bldg at grand Floridian for 2400.00. Was shocked since I thought that was one of the most expensive resorts. Anyway, I always thought it was too fancy for us so we never stayed there. Will we be disappointed? Anyone stayed there that could offer some tips? Thanks!

book it and never look back

I too wasn't interested in the grand, I was in love with the Polynesian. the grand was too stuffy and didn't look like a special themed place to me. until I stayed there because of a fantastic discount. now Ive kept booking there ever since. you will love it. and the Polynesian is a 10 minute scenic walk away along the lagoon.

You're not really comparing apples with apples. Your comparing club level with a standard room. What is the price of a standard non club level room at the contemporary? And the garden wing?

I think that as the PP pointed out, you were comparing two different levels of stay. I love the Grand, and give a choice it would always be my first. The CR is okay, but not my style.

The outer buildings are lovely and are only a shot walk to the main building. They are well maintained and are situated on pristine grounds that make the walk to anywhere a joy.

The CR is a different experience, and your price also included CL, which is wildly expensive. If you want to compare prices you need to use a level playing field, so get rid of CL in your comparison, and as the PP suggested...cost out the garden wing. That will give you an apple to apple comparison.

Outer building club level at GF is usually significantly less than main building. I know for our upcoming trip it was about a $150 a night difference, $250 if you want a main building TPV.

The GF is amazing! Like HairyChest, I also thought the GF was "stuffy" and never saw myself staying there. When I finally bit the bullet and tried it, I LOVED it! The Poly is still my favorite, but the GF runs a very close second. The grounds are beautiful, the pools are great, and there are a lot of great dining options. Don't worry about it being too fancy or being disappointed, you will have a great time! :wizard:
