Has anyone ever done the tea at GF? Can I have opinions please? Would you recommend it for a party of 4 women, we're not usually tea drinkers, but we don't dislike it either. I'm wondering if this is something I should consider booking for our upcoming trip, for the experience of it?

TIA

This is a MUST do for me and my girls every trip! My DM will be with us for the experience this time around. Check out this link to a mini review I did of our trip in April to the GF tea....with pics;)

I highly recommend trying out the tea room. I've been there with both my mom and friends who are not tea drinkers at all, and we really enjoyed the experience. The room is really beautiful and elegant. The tea is served formally (but not too formally) on gorgeous china. A few in our party were initially nervous that it would be "stuffy" and that they would use the wrong utensil or something, but we had a lot of fun with it. It's a really nice way to relax and take a break from the rush of the theme parks.

My mother in law and I just went, it was wonderful. I am not a tea drinker but I was ab le to get a iced tea, the.mad hatter was great. We had the tea sandwiches, scone and pastries. The best way to relax and escape the parks.

We went in August for my Mom's birthday and it was wonderful. Probably my Mom's favorite part of the trip and now a definite must do for me. The food was lovely. I am not a tea drinker but managed to drink 4 cups. The service, the atmosphere, everything was great.

I took my DS(3) and was a little worried about how it would go but it was great. When our server noticed DS didn't like what I ordered for him she brought him crustless PB&J and a pastry treat (no charge). She was so fantastic with him he invited her back to the pool with us.

Several CM's came over to wish my mom Happy Birthday, the manager(?) brought her a rose and we were sent home with a couple of extra pastries. Overall a magical experiance.

My DH, DD 3 and I experienced the Tea this past May, and it was a truly delightful meal.

I have read rave reviews about it here (which raised my expectations to the heights of the GF lobby!!), but my opinion is that the food is good, not exceptional, but I found there to be quite a nice selection of teas and the service to be very good. The setting is very pretty and feminine, and as a PP mentioned, like stepping back in time--I loved the atmosphere there; I think you and the other ladies will enjoy the whole experience.

My DH and I both ordered the Buckingham Palace--I would suggest ordering the strawberries and cream to finish your tea as I found the pastries to be just fair. DD had the Mrs. Pott's Tea--she couldn't finish all of the sandwiches!! But they didn't go to waste--they were all very tasty!

They do offer pressed pots of real coffee there as well, so you can request that be substituted for the tea should you not eat a la carte.

I don't think that you will regret booking GF Afternoon Tea, I know that I didn't!

If you're going any time in the near future, you better book it. I was not able to get an ADR for Dec 3rd :sad1:

we are going 2 x in Nov!! This is a must do for us.My dd3 LOVES going to the "tea party" as she calls it lol The strawberries and cream are soooo good!I always ask for a extra onion tart also, they are really yummy.

Would ABSOLUTELY recommend it! What a nice way to spend time with the ladies! Having tea here was one of the highlights of our trip.

The Mad Hatter is not at Afternoon Tea in the Gardenview Tea Room.

It is a great experience and I highly recommend it, we get the Grand Tea.

If you are not able to get reservations for it, I would call back, some of the reservationists are not familar with the tea and don't know how to book it.

Thank you all for the info and your opinions. Of course, when I found this late last night (the fact that there is a tea at GF, that is), I immediately knew I wanted to do it. But, I held no hope of being able to book it for Nov 9th. I called this morning and the first CM at member services that I got said there was no availability for the 9th or the 10th.:sad2:

I thanked her for looking and told her I'd be calling 2x a day to see if anything became available. She graciously welcomed me to do so:rolleyes:

I called back around 2 pm and they had it! Exactly what I wanted! A table for 5 of us at the earliest seating!!:woohoo::woohoo:

I grabbed it, made our dinner reservation at Y&BC later than we originally had it for that evening and now we are going to look into the spa at GF for a couple of treatments earlier in the day, as opposed to the spa at SSR (even though most opinions like SSR better). I think it would make much more sense to go to the spa at GF, then do the tea at GF, then head back to AKV for a rest (a rest??? did I just say we'd need a rest after spa treatments and afternoon tea??:scared1::laughing:what's up with that!?:lmao:). Then head over to Y&BC for our 7:30 dinner and top off the evening with some fun at Jellyrolls! Whew:cool1: What an awesome day I've got planned (if I do say so myself:rotfl:).

Thanks again ladies, for taking the time to post your opinions and suggestions.

One more question though....what's the mad hatter?

One more question though....what's the mad hatter?

The mad hatter doesn't appear at the tea room. There aren't any characters. I think the person who mentioned that may have been thinking of the breakfast at 1900 Park Fare. He makes appearances there.

There is a tea served here called "the Mad Hatter." Maybe that's what the PP was referring too when she mentioned the mad hatter was great??

From the menu:
Mad Hatter - A blend of passion fruit, pomegranate, and vanilla for a clean and sweet finish. Perfect with decadent desserts and companions

I believe that you are correct. I remember seeing this tea on the menu and having a hard time deciding between this and the Eros :cutie:.

I took my mom to tea at the GF on our recent trip! We love having tea anyway but found it to be really perfect. We ordered the Buckingham Palace tea - the sandwiches were good, scones spot on, and strawberries and cream a very nice, fresh way to end the meal. It was a very restful break in an otherwise very busy, very hot Magic Kingdom day! We took our time and enjoyed the ambiance! So if you are looking for a nice break and a good chat I think it is a good way to spend an afternoon.:goodvibes
