Grand Floridain Walkway

It will be a fairly long walk to do that. Since the Magic Kingdom is next monorail stop after Floridian, seems like that pathway would be a better choice when leaving the park during peak hours. With no shade along that walkway, will also be HOT. The walkway also continues to the Polynesian which would be an even longer route.

Don't think there will be much incentive to walk to the Floridian from the park if you aren't staying there.

^^ Sounds about right. When we stayed at the Contemporary last year, we would walk to Magic Kingdom, but return via the monorail since it was the next stop, cooler in the morning but hot later in the day while the monorail was air conditioned and drops you right at the lobby. Will be curious to see how many will walk from Polynesian to Magic Kingdom, seems like a LONG way vs using the monorail.

This is going to be great walking back to the Villas, especially if we stay late and it's crowded on the Boat and Monorail! I actually enjoy riding the monorail, especially going to the park in the morning. I usually just walk to the TTC when going to EPCOT. Not my Idea of fun going through security 3 times on the way over though. Now it's only 1 security check if we walk to the TTC and monorail to EPCOT

The problem in the morning, is that the monorail is packed and you usually can't get on to make it to MK, so you have to head over to the boat launch. At least this way you can just walk it.

I agree.I'm an early riser so I usually just walk right on. We usually hit a pretty big line because my wife and daughter like to sleep in, but it seems like we always manage to get on without too much of a wait. It's great to have another option!

We are a family of 5 with a double stroller and a single stroller, so there is no way we are getting on at the same time in the morning. I really wish they would hold certain monorail cars for the Poly & GF to at least give resort guests a fighting chance.

No big deal though, now that the walkway is almost complete, my wife & I can probably make it to MK from GF in under 15 minutes and prefer to walk most places at WDW. We even do the walk from BCV to Hollywood studios. We wish they had a walkway from AKV to AK!

That will be a really nice option, especially with the strollers!

One thing POLY and VGF both are further than measured because they are on the far side of the resort. Although its not that much further so really meaningless.

it feels wrong but it's only +50% longer from the Grand Floridian than the walk to the Contemporary; but the Polynesian is +160% ...
measured lobby entrance to Magic Kingdom entrance
0.8 km (>15 ft) Contemporary to Magic Kingdom
1.2 km (>35 ft) Grand Floridian to Magic Kingdom
2.1 km (at least a mile) Polynesian to Magic Kingdom (1.2 km + 0.9 km)

with VGF being a bit south of the main Grand Floridian lobby, it would be a bit longer from there (+200 m); BLT is roughly the same as the Contemporary main lobby; PVB would be a toss-up depending on which building you're in but would generally be another +200 m

Can anyone put this in miles for us kilometer challenged people :rolleyes1

So would runners be able to make a grand tour around the lake? I'm a little challenged to understand whether there's truly a pedestrian area between the contemporary and TTC to make a loop.

There is no actual path that I am aware of. TTC/Contemp/WL path might be a future plan?

End of Poly Bungalows walkway is so close to the end of the walking path on World Dr it would seem.

I saw this when we stayed at BLT. We were able to board the monorail at the Contemporary with no issues, next stop was TTC and we were flooded with guests boarding the monorail. Next stop Poly, no guests getting on and very few getting off, same thing at GF. I felt really bad for those guests who were paying a premium staying at those two resorts who had no chance of getting on the monorail. Seemed really unfair to me....

As far as the walk way goes, I guess it's good to have options but with all the walking we do as is I for one wouldn't want to add another mile+ to my daily walk. We don't usually wait until the very end of day so we can avoid the crowds getting on buses and monorail. Maybe with the walkway I would reconsider that long walk back to GF. JMHO

Yeah, I'm surprised they don't get a lot of complaints about this from the Hotel side of the resorts that are paying the "Deluxe" price for their rooms. I know if I was paying $10k to $15k to stay at Poly or GF I would be pretty upset.
