Any past cruisers do the Grand Cayman Island Tour? Looking for something to do in the a.m. and then take a taxi to 7 mile beach.
Sound like a good idea? Or not worth the money? We did injoy the island tour last year in St. Martin if that helps.

My mom did it recently and wasn't thrilled, said it wasn't bad, just wasn't good either....things like that usually depend on who is leading the excursion.

We did the Grand Cayman Island Tour during our July 6th cruise. It truly is a tourist trap!

With that said, it could still be right for you. If you get excited at the prospect of holding a sea turtle - go for it. Want to mail a postcard from Hell to your best friend, you've got to take this excursion.

The first stop is a local shop that sells rum cakes (no, not Tortuga, but some other brand). I don't see where we should be stopping at a store as part of the Island tour. If I wanted to shop (which we did after the excursion), there are plenty of shops at the pier.

Hell is a series of shops that sell postcards and t-shirts with every variation on the theme of hell. They even had a guy dressed up as a devil who managed to say "hell" in every sentence. Th actual desolate area that was the source for the name is really quite small. But, they do have a post office named Hell.

I'd suggest you save your money and try another excursion.

So Stormkrow, how did you enjoy your cruise? I can't believe that we didn't somehow manage to run into each other. There were an awful lot of people from NJ on the ship. My daughter saw you and your family on Thurs night all dressed up for your wedding. Hope you had a great time. And how did you like Discovery Cove? We had a blast. But between that and snorkeling at Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Castaway Cay, I think I've seen enough fish for quite a while. But what memories!!!:)

I second your description - we had a blast!

The vow renewal was perfect. It was just the four of us, the Captain, and several DCL officers. Afterwards, Geri (the DCL Wedding coordinator) led us around the ship to get pictures at different locations. That's probably when your daugher saw us.

Besides the vow renewal, there were several high lights for us:

the Magic cruise in general, Discovery Cove, and Cirque du Soliel (?).

I'll try to put together a trip report this weekend. Sorry we didn't run into each other. I did get to meet WendyM and her mother during the shuttle ride over from Radisson and then later in the secret Deck 7 aft deck.
