Grand Cayman snorkeling offshore?

someone must know something about snorkeling in grandcayman on here off of the beach???

Hi there,

My husband and I have been two Cayman a few times. Once we stayed there for a couple weeks, but it's been a few years.

We have been all over the Carribean, but Grand Cayman is still our favorite place to snorkle...

Smith's Cove, Eden Rock and Cemetary Reef were absolutely amazing!!! Eden Rock has some of the best stuff to see...but if water's are chopping can be a little more challenging. You have to swim out a ways...and there are boats and stuff wizzing by...not a very peaceful snorkling adventure, but each time we definitley saw the coolest stuff. Smith's Cove is wonderful. Not very crowded every time we were there...and Cemetary Reef of course has a beach...If you're only there for the day, We didn't like the Rum Point stuff. We thought it was touristy and didn't like the snorkling...and it is quite a drive....Oh...and the water was reallllly grassy. Kind of freaked me out, and couldn't see anything:)

Also, Stingray City Sandbar really is something to experience. Just be careful if you decide to feed them, because they won't leave you alone once they smell that squid on you... One giant ray actually planted himself on my husband's back...it was a sight to behold:)

Eat some Conch while you're there if you have a chance...the Cracked Conch is amazing...Also if you like Jerk food...there's some great places as well.

Hope some of this helps!

Lisa.
