I have found a deal that is pretty good for the Grand Californian, but it doesn't beat our HOJO hotel price of course, so I am wondering, is it worth it to switch?

I wonder the same thing, GC has some really awesome AP rates next month but I wonder if it is really worth it? It's for my DD's Bday.

I am trying out HoJo this weekend....

Is there a big difference between GC & the DH?

Seriously? Is there a difference. You are talk about a average hotel and a very good hotel.

But really if the GCH is pricing you out. Don't extend yourself for a small part either way of a big disney experience.

A BIG DIFFERENCE!!

GCH is WAAAAAY more expensive them DLH, but if you can’t afford it I would say HOJO!!

Its my favorite hotel!

Stay with HoJo ~ anyone can enjoy the lobby of the Grand. Our room was dark and woodsy ~ I very much prefer the HoJo rooms.

I guess my questions was more of is it worth is to stay at GCH, especially if we are not doing DL/DCA the whole time? When we go to WDW on site is great, but am just wondering if it is as "magical" at GCH and if it is worth it going to off site locations seven out of 10 days?

I obviously knew they were different levels of hotel, I just wonder if it is worth $2000 extra dollars to stay there.

As much as I want to say yes to the extra $2000, since I've gone into a retirement phase of life I'd say stick with HoJos and take a walk over to the Grand when you've got a chance.

I absolutely love the hotel but the times have changed and I'm trying to be more frugal these days.....well, at least on some things.

We've stayed at HoJos many times and we're very happy there, too!

My personal preference is usually to stay offsite because of the cost-savings. We finally stayed onsite again though, and I admit I loved the experience. My feeling though is that's money best spent on a trip where Disney is the entire focus of the experience. If I was going to so many off-site locations, I would never spend that much extra money to stay onsite. You have a compromise option though. If your Disney days are going to be grouped together, you might consider off-site (Hojos or wherever) for the part of your trip that you have the most excursions planned and stay onsite for a few nights during your Disney concentrated time if you don't mind having a split stay, especially if this trip is a once in a lifetime or a once in a great while type thing. If you're planning on returning in the not so distant future though, save onsite for when you're just doing Disney.

I love love love the GCH......but for $2000 I'd say stick with the HoJo. :)

Why $2000? I'm spending $400 from a HoJo similar hotel and the GCH for 4 nights. It's stretching my budget but I don't mind.. who needs new curtains anyway? ;)

Even HOJO is more magical than WDW on-site! That being said... Stay at GCH! :thumbsup2 $2000 is not a lot of money!

I'm not comparing the two, I have never stayed at either. I've stayed at Paradise Pier and I didn't feel like it was worth it.

I'm just wondering if it is worth the extra $100 over the price of CCI.

seriously? $2000 isn't a lot of money? That is airfare for 6 of us from WI. I haven't stayed at either place, but I would stay at HOJO. $2000 could be the start of anothe trip. have fun!

Ok so say you're staying at the CCI for $700 for your stay, but you find out you can stay at the GCH for $800. Ya, stay at the GCH....LOL

Check out the Grand Californian Super Thread on the boards. There is lots of information about staying at the Grand Californian.

It is lengthy, but has lots of photos and experiences.

Happy deciding.

I am looking at a night in Sept and the rate is only $213 and at CC
i for about $120 so is it worth it for just one night? I really would love to check out the spa, but is it worth it for kids?

That's how we stay on site ~ usually just one night at the beginning or end of our trip ~ if we have APs we make it so our check out day is a MM. We start or end our visit somewhere much less expensive.
