Ok, so we will be going to Disneyland for our first time at the end of the month, and I have a couple of quick questions.

1) Safes - Are they similar in size to BLT or AKV? Basically, will they hold an iPad?

2) WiFi - How is it? Are the rooms still wired? Should I just bring my AirPort Express, or will the resort WiFi work?

3) World of Color Observation Deck - How is the view? Worth going up there? Need reservations?

That's all for now, but I am sure I will have more.

Safes are the same size as I have seen in othe Disney resorts and should be able to fit an iPad.

The WiFi works extremely well, especially from the DVC rooms. I do not believe that the tons are wired.

For WOC, make sure the first time you see it, watch it from the park. The view from the viewing area from the resort is ok, but you can't see the projections at all. That being said, it can be fun to see the fountains from that angle, just not if you haven't seen the show before. Also, remember to bring all of your room keys, when there are what appears to be too many people there I have seen security checking room keys.

I was in 6504 last May, which is facing the park. The wireless was bad, mostly 1 bar. I was glad they still had wired.

The deck is open for any hotel guest, you just need to use your room key to get in. We went over one night and hardly anyone was there.

Awesome, thanks for the response. Will definitely see it first from the park.

Cool. Guess it won't hurt to bring the AirPort express. Thanks for the help!

I was in 6404 in November. Great location, awful wireless signal. The IT guy said something about that tier and its distance from the wireless router. I had my travel router with me, but the wired connection didn't work either. Not happy. Weak 3G all week, and I was there (ostensibly) on business. I hope it's improved since then. Last week during my stay in the hotel, the wireless worked fine.

We will be staying at the GC for the first time since DVC rooms have been available.

I don't know where in the resort the DVC rooms are located. Are there different views or do they all have about the same view? Does anyone recommend requesting a particular view or location?

Thanks!

Just adding another poor wireless experience. Very spotty within our 2BR villa (didn't work at all in bathroom :rolleyes1), forced me to accept service more than once a day.

I have stayed in 4500 and 2500 and the WiFi in both was okay, but the wired was much faster.

Just home from GCH had a great view for World of Color! 3504. The pool was 82 not! It was freezing!

Okay, this won't necessarily apply to you, but we just got back from a week at Paradise Pier (right across the street from the GC), and the wifi was pretty bad. Thankfully, we had our AirPort, which worked perfectly with the hotel's wired Ethernet once I got a replacement cable from the front desk (the one in the room had a broken part that made a reliable connection impossible) and gave all the wires an extra push to make sure they were making contact.

I'd highly recommend using the wired connection and either plugging in a laptop or using an AirPort router for your iPad. Without it, our iPads went from one bar to two, most of the time.
