We just returned from 4 nights in two connected concierge rooms at the Grand Californian with our daughter, son-in-law, and two year old granddaughter. It cost us 53 points per night per room for a total of 424 points.
I was delighted that there had been a point reduction at the GC, since I only get 500 points per year. The reduction made this do-able.
The concierge ammenities saved old grandpa (me) from the poor house since we ate concierge food except for one character breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen and a meal at the Rainforest Cafe where we used our 10% DVC coupon.
There was a continental breakfast with fruit, juice, coffee. milk, various cereals, lots of baked goods, and Mickey shaped scones. 6 AM to 10 AM.
From 11AM to 4 PM there was lunch with chocolate covered strawberries, wonderful crustless sandwiches, more fruit, a hot entree, etc.
Wine and cheese with 'uncrustibles'-like peanut butter sandwiches for the kids and another hot entree was from 5-7.
Cookies and pretty desserts came out from 8-10 while stories were read and/ or performed to the little ones at 8:15.
This lounge had 10 ounce bottles of coke, water or sprite available all day and was a good spot to watch the fireworks at 9:15.
The rooms were beautiful and the staff was delightful.
Disneyland is really a better sized place to take very little kids. We were never more than a 10-15 minute walk from our rooms.
I realize that not everyone has 424 points, but this is what add-ons are for!
