Had a FABULOUS STAY ON DEVELOPER POINTS, SPLURGE, 2 CONNECTING ROOMS, 4 NIGHTS AT GCH!

Loved the service and proximity of GCH! Really enjoyed the stay..Hope we can get back out in a couple of years..GCV models look awesome!

Booked mid January for a mid August stay..Requested 1 King, 2 Double Connecting well well in advance, that being 8 months..

Disapointed that I needed to speak with a manager at checkin..Wanted to give me 2 Rooms with 2 Doubles and move me the next morning.

Finally got what my request was..Quite frankly, at 32 points per night per room, booking 8 months in advance and clearly specifying request on reservation, I feel that the points are quite expensive and I should have gotten the 1 King, 2 Doubles connecting without having to go through the hassle of speaking with a manager.:confused: Loved the location of the two rooms we wound up with..Very close to the 4th floor elevator which was very close to the CA entrance...Rooms 4323 and Rooms 4321, Standard viewwere the rooms which were very convenient and very quiet!

Did the GC guests only power walk through CA one morning at 7:30..Did 2 miles in 30 minutes..We moved at a brisk pace, but the tour guide gave us so much great info! So awesome to see CA when there are NO GUESTS!

Other than that, very happy with the stay! Really loved DL and CA for first trip to California! Spent 3 glorious days in San Diego at Marriott Coronado Island..Loved loved Marriot Coronado as well....

Can't wait to return in a few years! Huntington Beach was our favorite, then LaJolla Beach, Pacific Beach, and lastly Coronado Island Beach by the Del..Water was much too much seaweed for our tastes by the Del..Beautiful hotel though from the outside..Beautiful beach by the Del, but the water quality was not great! Huntington Beach was awesome! Clear water and huge waves!

Hope anyone else who uses GCH has a great time!!!:dance3:Enjoy!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

It's great to hear you enjoyed your trip out West. We sometimes take it for granted as we go quite often.

It's a great hotel isn't it! Glad you had a wonderful time.
I think it was difficult to fulfill your request since there are so few King rooms..We have stayed many times and only once gotten a King and that was just luck. We've been able to easily request 2 connecting doubles and get them with no problems. 32 points a night is high, but when we went last year, my nightly cost in cash (including resort fee and taxes) was 384 for weeknights and 431 for weekend, so 32 isn't so bad. I don't know how we 'rank' in room assignments..if there is a difference between points guests and cash, but either way, a room request is just that, a request, not a guarantee. They really do try to make everyone happy..I've never been disappointed with the room I've been assigned, even without requests.

I made no request at all when I booked our standard room last September for our stay last week at the GCH. We got a room on the 6th floor concierge level (no concierge access to the lounge though.)= room 6007. I also paid 32 points per night but that came out to less than the cash cost per night using $10 per point (what I would transfer my points at, $10 each.) I did try to upgrade to a better view when we checked in but the place was full and no upgrades were available. When I saw our view though, I was happy with it. I was facing the new DVC section and could see the pool as well as CA in the distance.

Sounds like we had a similar vacation! We spent 4 nights in the San Diego area and 4 nights at the GCH. Two of the nights we stayed at the Del Coronado. I loved the hotel but it wasn't as quiet as the GCH. I started watching for deals there last September and earlier this year had booked us at $225 per night.

We walked on the beach but didn't swim in the ocean. We're not really "beach" people. We spent all of our time in San Diego at either the zoo or the Wild Animal park.
