I finally got locked into my DVC Villas at Grand California points. :cheer2:
With that came Developer Points and since they have to all be used, I found I could get 3 nights at the Grand Concierge level. I have never stayed on Concierge anywhere, so have no clue. The DVC booking guy said that continental breakfast and wine and cheese receptions were included. What do these consist of? Anyone stayed there who can give me any info?

I'm sorry, but the GC Concierge floor is the worst place you can stay in the resort. One weekend staying there will affect the way you look at other hotels in the area. Odds are, you will never find a better room or service in any other hotel in the Disneyland Resort, and will thus see that every other place you can stay is subpar. My deepest condolences. ;)

In all actualities, the GC Concierge floor has been the greatest experience I've ever had in the parks, and the price of the room is EASILY worth it. The rooms are lovely (very rustic, a little better quality than the rest of the GC rooms), but the main draw is the Craftsman's Club: the Concierge Lounge. As you have already been lead to believe, this lounge is home to a continental breakfast and such. But it is much more than that...

At all times in the day, there is some sort of buffet going on, with very good quality food (not Napa Rose quality, but hey, it's free). Also, there are these mini-refrigerators that stock glass bottled sodas (think Honor Bar, but free and you can take as many as you dare). Also, the Lounge has a glorious view of California Adventure and the fireworks, complete with very very comfortable chairs and tables.

You are in for quite a treat. :thumbsup2

EDIT: And if it means anything, I am on the record as saying that I'd much enjoy staying on the Concierge floor and never leave the hotel, completely forgoing the parks for the entirety of the trip. It is THAT comfortable.

Good review! Can't wait! I always stay at the Grand Californian just never Concierge level..sooo if we play our cards right this can save quite alot of money on eating, eh??

Hi Nunzia.
First, congrats on your VGC purchase. When Pirate-Emery states you won't find anything to live up to your GCH Concierge stay, he doesn't know our best kept secret! :cool1:

I'm staying Concierge for 5 nights the first week of May. Had to burn some points and thought, what better way then to take advantage of my last chance to stay there on points before the Villas open. I heard it's not as nice as Concierge at WDW or other hotels, but what it does have I know I'll appreciate! Water to take into the parks, breakfast every morning, snacks, a little wine.... and storytelling at night for my kids. And I can't wait to watch the fireworks from the viewing area.
I'll be sure to post a report when I return, and possibly provide some insight while I'm there...

I agree. I love LOVE GCH CL!!! I would it every time if I could!! I am debating whether to upgrade for our April trip. I loved the fact that we could grab 2 waters each on our way out to the parks, they also have soda if you like that. Grab a quick bite for the morning and we were off. Then when we came back for a nap we grabbed another water and a snack. Did the same when we came back for the night. Also grabbed some treats and then rented a dvd...at no charge, to watch while we nibbled. I cannot remember all the snacks but they were tastey! I do remember chocolate dipped strawberries and some kind of cheesecake square? We also had crab cakes...geesh I should have taken pictures. Anyway...you will LOVE it! :)

i posted some pics in the food area while back but you can see pics of Grand Cali concierge and Paradise pier in my blog. you can get there by clicking my name and selecting go to home page. You will love it. just got back froma a trip at the Disneyland hotel concierge 2 weeks agao but i have lost my camera cord to connect to my computer! will be up soon once i can get them off. i took video of all of them

We've stayed there at Christmas time (which is also our anniversary time, too) and we enjoyed it. The food, wine, snacks, and fireworks on the balcony were lovely. We could get DVDs and bring them back to our room, the concierge would make our dining reservations for us. Don't forget to use them for whatever you need to do.

You will be spoiled - it is just as nice as anything at WDW - and theirs don't have fireworks views......:thumbsup2

BTW - welcome to DVC! I've owned for over 16 years now....

We will have to second that. When we were there, we loved it so much that we gave our theater tickets for an afternoon musical performance to the concierge desk for them to use or give away to another guest. My DH set up a mini office in the corner Saturday morning and the CMs were marvelous. He had an endless stream of snacks and drinks while he worked. His office is only 30 minutes from DLR but the lounge was just too tempting. I graded papers and read on one of the balconies.

And yes, you can save money on breakfast, drinks and possibly lunch and if you ate a big lunch, then the dinner appetizers were enough for me. BTW, it was nice that the CM remembered from Friday nite on Saturday nite that I was drinking merlot.

I am waiting for DVC member services to open. Hoping for concierge 6/15 - 6/19 with our DPs. I hope I have not waited too long. PRAY!!!

BTW NUNZIA - WELCOME HOME!!!

Thanks! I hadn't thought of asking them to make dining reservations.
I've already been DVC but bought in so I could more easily get VGC! :) It worked, because here I am. OKW is my first, and I'm so glad I can add VGC as my second :yay:

I AM IN!! HEE HEE 06/15 - 06/19 GCH CONCIERGE

The pool/park views were booked so I reserved a garden view. What do you view in a garden view?

Garden view is the West Wind Courtyard - the one the monorail passes through. Very nice and much closer to the lounge!!!!!!!!:banana:

Ok, you all have inspired me. We were at GC earlier this month and got upgraded to concierge floor (down comforters, etc.) but didn't get access to the lounge. We enjoyed the upgraded room and garden view very much. We had a reservation for 2 standard rooms this coming October (our dd and dsl are coming with us). I just talked to dd and we decided to ditch the two standard rooms and book one concierge room with a garden view. So we will be there Oct. 11-16......YIPPEEE!!!!! For once I won't be packing along breakfast goodies, snacks, drinks and water bottles!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Great to hear this. We booked a garden view as I've heard park views aren't always that great, and garden view allowed me 5 nights with no leftover points. This thread is getting me more excited for our May visit!

We stayed 4 nights at GCH concierge last month and it was AWESOME!!! My kids got SO spoiled!! One of my girls ate her weight in chocolate covered strawberries :lmao: The concierge attendants even fixed them special cocoa with whipped cream and chocolate syrup drizzles.

The breakfast buffet is pretty standard continental breakfast stuff.

They have a "tea" buffet that included shortbread with clotted cream and raspberry jam, cookies, and wonderful little sandwiches. I especially loved the salmon and creme cheese ones! They had fruit platters full of fresh fruit, too, and the chocolate strawberries.

The wine and cheese reception in the evening was also great! More snacks, including a hot appetizer or 2, plus wine or beer (or non-alcoholic beverage).

There were cookies, little cakes, the chocolate-dipped strawberries and various other little things in a dessert buffet in the evening.

All day long you can snack and drink, play games, watch movies, and there is even a computer station. We had a blast!!

I love scones/shortbread w/ clotted cream & raspberry jam. Used to fly quite a bit on British Air and always looked forward to that as my morning wake up treat once I made it across the pond!

I am on :cloud9: and excited about our trip. My worry is the kids will enjoy concierge so much that wont want to go to the park :scared1:. HEE HEE

We had stayed at the GCH several times over the years...splurged for concierge on our last trip...big, HUGE mistake :rotfl:

It is incredible...we will be back over Easter and I cannot wait :cloud9:
