Hello All!

We have a package booked for three days in July, a Friday, Saturday and Sunday (yes...crazy, I know how busy it will be, but its the only time DD and DS can go together), we currently have PP Conceirge, but would LOVE GC. We booked through the the Disney Visa line and the person I spoke with told me to book a regular room at the GC and just add Conceirge when we arrive. Does this make sense to anyone? Has anyone had luck doing this, especially in summer? I would to count of this and have it not happen.

I appreciate any input. Thanks!

You can't just add concierge to a regular room, unless the hotel allows it. They typically only allow a certain block of rooms to have conc. From what I understand, they have certain rooms that are blocked especially for conc. and then regular rooms. It might be hard in July to change that over. Although it is totally overpriced people still book it. I think it is about 125 more a night right now. You will never optimize the amount you are spending, but they do have really good scones and jam in the afternoon.

That's too funny! $125+ a night more for scones and jam. :rotfl2: My friend is still considering adding concierge service (not the room) to our DLH visit in October because she likes the turn-down service and chocolates on the pillows. :confused3 I told her that I could do that for them myself at a much lower price. I also told her that if she really wanted it, she'd have to pay for it because that's something I can well do without.

Actually, its a good value for us, we make good use of it. We save more than that each day, easily. We're a family of four though, with DS being a picky eater and DD being a pretty healthy eater.

I would say we save about $30-40 in soda and water alone, and then theres the 3-4 glasses of wine each night. POh, and the coffee, tea and hot chocolate. We make that our breakfast each morning, so another $30-40, and then when we come back for our nap, we grab soda, chips, fruit and cookies, then before we return to the park we make the nightly offering our dinner. All we have to buy when in the park is lunch, which we make out biggest meal, and then any special snacks we'd like.

To each his own though!

Kinda right and Kinda wrong...you can inquire at check-in if concierge is available...if it is...you can add it to your room...(sometime cheaper in off season)...in high season it is almost impossible to add...jc

We have rooms booked at DLH in Oct on the concierge floor (but not concierge). I just called the other day to see how much it would be to upgrade to concierge. It's the same exact room, but the cost...get this...goes up $688, not counting tax, for 4 nights! That's an EXTRA $688, not the total cost. Yowza!!:scared1: I asked why on earth the cost was $172/day more, but the answer was vague. I suppose there must be people who pay it. Seems a bit extreme to me.

We had no luck doing what Visa have suggested to you on recent visit - they can theoretically add the lounge entry etc to a standard room for an extra cost, but they only do that if they have lower occupancy - the hotel was sold out on our visit, so they would not give us the access for an extra charge.

pays to ask, but you might miss out given the time of the year! good luck anyway

there are only a certain number of concierge rooms available. In theory it is possible but not likely. Also, the sodas in GCH concierge are glass, so you can't take them in to the park.

We weren't able to do this in March on spring break; they were booked solid and wouldn't allow us to add concierge room access to our standard room. However we had groceries delivered to the hotel instead; water, milk, fruit, snacks and breakfast items. Supplemented by the occasional run down to Whitewater Snacks downstairs for fresh fruit, veggies and other yummy stuff... we saved a lot of money by having breakfast in our room.

Gail - I swear, I want to forward your post on to my traveling buddy. She's having a hard time convincing her husband that THIS (grocery delivery) is the way to go. She mentioned groceries to him yesterday (while I was on the phone), and said, "He's frowning..." I said, "No, you mean POUTING!" She's all for it, but he still wants concierge. I told her if they get it, they're paying for it. (How, I don't know, because she's currently unemployed.) I don't need access to a room that I'll hardly ever see, or even need. (She just better not eat my groceries! haha)
