Is it considered a dvc ? It's like double the points of most of the other dvc resorts.....

I know. It is expensive!! And not that competitive with the cash rates.

I priced out our March stay (3 nights) and studio is 26 points a night weekday. Cash price is $800. Unless we are cruising on the west coast or headed to Hawaii, our stays will be very limited.

It's like the point chart did not change from the Disney collection, but we now have the option of larger villas.

It's comparable to BLT MK view. Both BLT and GCV upped the points - probably b/c DVC thought they could sell them.

The Grand Californian has always been one of the most expensive Disney hotels to stay at - maybe even the most expensive - so even with the high point cost the DVC rooms are a deal when you compare it to the hotel.

VGC IMO is the most exclusive DVC resort. As the saying goes yet get what you pay for.
In this case premium facilities in an exceptional location.

A lot of it depends upon when you go because the seasons are different between DL and WDW.

Our VGC points are earmarked for June trips and on many nights, VGC is only a couple points more than BCV or BWV, and equal or less than BLT:

VGC mid-June
One Bedroom: 39 per weekday
Two Bedroom: 52 per weekday

BCV mid-June
One Bedroom: 37
Two Bedroom: 48

BLT MK View mid-June
One Bedroom: 49
Two Bedroom: 63

That's probably due to "June gloom". We typically don't see much of the sun at all in Southern California during June. Clouds, fog, occasional rain, etc.

We own at VGC as Disneyland is our primary destination. The points are higher for sure, but the location cannot be beat since you are actually staying in the middle of the LA area.

The best perk is you can walk directly from the hotel into the California Adventure Park which is something you cannot do at any other DVC location. And that entrance is in right across from the exit of the white water rapids ride

Another perk is free parking - it is standard at WDW but in Anaheim, you are looking at $8 - $20 per day for parking when staying at other Disneyland area hotels.

We are going to WDW this summer and staying at OKW, last time we stayed at SSR, and I can tell you I am really going to miss the convenience of being able to walk off a ride in the park and in 5 mins be in my room

Worth every point.
We love that resort and bought DVC several years ago just so we would be sure to be able to buy into it when a DVC came there.
We've been 3 times so far

It is so worth it.

It is, honestly, the best DVC resort there is too. I've talked with so many DVC vets who've said the same thing. And it is the only DVC resort, or Disney hotel for that matter, that has it's own private entrance directly IN to a Disney theme park - there's literally a turnstile from the hotel in to California Adventure. The villas don't just look out at the theme park like BLT - rather they bump right up next to and look out OVER the theme park. And Disneyland is just about a 5 minute walk. Using the hotel's direct park entrance - you could be in line for Soarin' in less than 2 minutes.

If you think VGC is expensive, don't even look at Aulani. :scared1: Granted, Aulani does have more categories, but just like other resorts, I doubt you'll be able to book the lower point categories without actually owning there.

I agree :thumbsup2 Well it might not be right of me to say it is the best since we are fairly new to DVC but that was the first DVC villa we stayed in and it was amazing! :cool1: I myself have posted that numerous times over when any questions about VGC come up. Worth every point. :goodvibes

Better than suffering through the heat and crowds in Florida at the same time.

Only of the parks/resorts in the U.S. The Disneyland Hotel in Disneyland Paris is in the park, amazing view. Not sure about Hong Kong or Tokyo. I do think GCV is worth the points. It is a great place to visit.

I own at GCV and love it to death. However, I do hope that when we get the villas in the 4th tower of the Disneyland Hotel (wishful positive thinking), that the points will come down so that my points will stretch farther...
