I wish I knew!:rotfl2: We put Character Warehouse in the GPS and just followed it - Okay, I found it - it was the first one listed here at allersnet

http://allears.net/btp/cware.htm

They had quite a bit of scrapbook stuff and lots of men's T-shirts. I don't know about "big boy" stuff. I had a really hard time finding any of the sizes of our babies in the items that I liked for them. There were quite a few toys and activities - they had a coupon when I checked out for so much off if your total was $50 or more - something like that, and then she gave me an extra $5 off after that, too. Be sure to ask if there are any discounts - you might even ask about military discount!

Oh my goodness! I am cracking up about Santa! :lmao: That picture of you on his lap is hilarious!

What's up with the Yeti? I guess he was on vacation too.

do you have anything else to share about the character wharehouse, would you say it was worth the trip to go there, or just buy your stuff at disney?

how far was it away...this sounds like something that we would want to do.

i have never seen a giraffe sitting down great shot of that.

Oh, I wasn't on his lap, but it was a funny situation - "do you want to sit on my lap and tell me what you want for Christmas?" Then the whole family chimed in, "yah, sit on his lap!" I was a little wierded out:lmao:

You never know with the Character Warehouse - I've been to them out here too - sometimes there's lots of great stuff and sometimes its all picked over - it depends on what you're looking for that day. This time it seemed like a waste of time, and I just wanted to be at the pool with my adult beverage. Of course I found your little prize there.... :rolleyes1there are a couple of them just about 5 miles away from DTD. The link above shows both of them - maybe more.

Thanks for the pic comment - I'm not much of a photographer.

You might be right! It probably is UFF-DA! I bought my mom a book by that name when we lived in North Dakota. I don't remember the Maelstrom lady - did she have blond braids?:goodvibes

LOL, here she is...her first name is Vonnie! (man oh man I sure hope my XSMIL doesn't read these boards!) :rotfl2:

maelstrom.jpg

Yeah..Betty the Yeti hasn't been working for a while..they have her in "B" mode whch means she doesn't move at all...sometimes they have a strobe light on her that makes it look like she is moving (but she isn't). I guess it is going to be a big deal to fix her. Very expensive and they don't have a timetable or any idea if or when they might begin repairs. :sad2:

We totally agree with your review of Y&Y CS...we had it too and it was AWFUL! I sincerely hope for the sake of those who eat there, that the TS is not the same food. We both had the honey chicken...the chicken pieces(while they were white meat, that was the only positive) were like Church's Chicken (for those of you who are familiar with that chain) The breading is very thick and crusty. Our chicken was dry too. The sauce was too sweet (reminded me of cheap sweet & sour flavor..but without the sour. Very tacky in the mouth and bad aftertaste. We didn't like it a bit.

Love the pic of you and Santa...guess you were a bad girl! LOL

Oh! I guess Vonnie works for NCL? :rotfl2: I thought she would be a viking lady. I really don't remember this scene, but it has been 4 1/2 yrs since we rode Maelstrom!

Actually, we did eat at the TS Y&Y on our last day and it was very good! I don't know why the CS is so bad:upsidedow

Why does everyone assume I was a bad girl????

Then he asked if I wanted to sit on his lap and tell him what I wanted for Christmas – his wife offered to take the pic. I opted for lean down and smile :

OMG!!! Of COURSE Santa vacations at WDW- where else would he go???:rotfl: What a great Christmas card that would make!:lmao:

I just finished catching up on your TR and am having a ball! First of all, hello to a fellow Oregonian! (well I live in VA now but grew up in Portland and on my last visit, we went to the Children's Museum, OMSI and the zoo.)

Love that pic of you and Santa (did you tell him what you wanted for Christmas?) I finally went on the Asia trail (can't remember the name of it) on my last visit in December (was there 4 days by myself b4 DD joined me) and I had a great time taking a leisurely stroll thru AK.

I know - where else is there, except St.John maybe?:confused3

I never thought about Christmas cards! I guess I should have stopped laughing and sat on his lap!:goodvibes

:welcome: Thanks for checking in! I'm glad you're enjoying the TR - its nice that the first part brings back memorie of Oregon. It would be nice to just take your time to take AK in, rather than running for the next FP. Which, I guess we did on our last day ... more to come!

you met santa!!!!! you lucky girl you. i bet you'll have a great christmas next year.

we saw him too at MNSSHP back in september but he just sped by on his ECV so i didn't get to talk to him. mrs. claus was there, too. apparently disney world is a favorite vacation spot for them.

We were in WDW then also and rode from Pop Century on the bus with Santa. We also rode back from the parks one day and saw him in line behind us. He must have been staying at Pop Century!

:santa:

At last post, we were leaving AK and heading out for some shopping. I wanted to note here that when we left Epcot Mon night, we had a very low tire on our rental. Jim drove to a gas station, which was another fiasco with the GPS, but we filled the tire up with air.

Tues morning before AK when we came out to leave - yup, low tire. We headed to the gas station again and filled the tire.

After our adventure in the wild, we headed to the Character Warehouse at an outlet Mall, just a few miles up the road. I didn't take a picture, but as I said before, we found a few little things - some scrapbook stuff, a shirt for Jim, a shirt for Mason, a pin and a couple of toys. We had a hard time finding the right sizes for kids clothes - there was quite a bit there, just not what we needed. I purchased Dan's not-so-major prize from the trivia game here - a fluffy light-up Donald pen - just what he needed!:rotfl2:

DAN! Help me out here!

We went to WalMart so Jim could get fix-a-flat - we found all kinds of souvies there! I wasn't real impressed with the quality, and I didn't buy the T-shirts, because we have Disney at our WalMart too -big deal - I wanted WDW stuff! I was getting mad at Jim because he was being a cheapskate. He wanted me to just buy stuff because it was "disney" and not care about the fact we were buying gifts. Why would I want to buy my souvies at WalMart:confused3 It's not like it's a major landmark in Orlando or anything. We did get the little ones some little stuffed characters, because they were cute - all dressed in pirate gear, and the kids wouldn't care where they came from.

This WalMart wasn't a Super, so we still needed some groceries. I starting to get pretty anxious - my plan was to get to the pool with my adult beverages. WalMart wasn't on my list. We "fixed the flat" with great success! Now we had to find another store. We stopped at Osco, I believe. I found orange juice, chips, trail mix, cereal bars, water - but no coffee. So Jim decides that there is no coffee at this store. We need to leave and get coffee at a grocery store. WHAT? I AM NOT LEAVING UNTIL I FIND THE COFFEE! IF THEY HAVE ALL THESE OTHER FOOD ITEMS, THEY HAVE COFFEE!:headache: I asked a clerk - guess what? We had walked by it about 4 times. Now can we go to the pool? Somehow on the way back, we went through the Magic Arch again - since it was dark the first night, I snapped this pic:

March09BBallZooWDW227.jpg

We got back to the room and I noticed that there was even MORE water on the floor and no one had touched the fridge. I called maintenance and the front desk to tell them about it. As far as I can tell, no one ever came. I turned the fridge up to "freezer" and decided not to worry about it. I wiped out the fridge again with paper towels, but I wasn't going to use my towel allotment to dry up their floor. I got ready for the pool. Jim decided he wasn't ready for a swim, so I mixed orange juice with my Citron vodka, leaving room for sprite, and Jim took my refillable mug to AP to get me some sprite. He brought the sprite and then headed back to work out in the weight room. My adult beverage was great!:thumbsup2

I settled in with my book, and WTH? 3 girls were sitting in front of me smoking, and the breeze was blowing the smoke right in my face:sick: I have asked this before - since when did the CP pool become the designated smoking area? I moved to the other side of the pool and got settled in again. I saw a CM come by with towels, and she never said a word to the smokers. :confused3 Anyway, I got my nap in the sun and all was good - it felt like such an accomplishment to get there! :cool1:

We had 7:30 ADRs at Ohana, so I headed back to the room at 5:30 to get ready. We were leaving for Poly by 6:30 - my plan was to eat dinner and look around the resort, then watch the fireworks from the beach.

With plenty of time until our dinner time, we looked around and took a few pics before checking in:

Kara and Lorrie, do you remember Debbie talking about sleeping in the bushes at MK? Apparently this guy is here to prevent that from happening at Poly!:rotfl2:

March09BBallZooWDW241.jpg

We checked in at 7:25 for our 7:30 ADR - it will be about 20 minutes, we were told. We found a chair in the waiting area, and ordered a drink. I got my Lapu Lapu- mmmm
March09BBallZooWDW243.jpg

We waited for an hour and 10 minutes! I actually had time to drink my whole drink, we met two other families, and watched another couple decide to divorce while their kids cried - nice. I know vacations can be stressful, but COME ON! These are the memories you're making for your children. Really I hope they made up. Poor grandma was sitting there beside herself trying not to comment.

We were finally seated! :woohoo: I enjoyed dinner very much, although it wasn't as good as last time. The meats were all good - they changed to turkey, then pork, then beef, then Shrimp. They had smoked green beans with almonds, won ton wrappers instead of egg rolls, I can't really remember what else. Jim wasn't feeling well. He probably waited too long to eat. Maybe he should have had a Lapu Lapu:goodvibes We had a nice surprise when we were almost done with dinner - I didn't know this would happen- somehow I missed it on the DIS - but at 8:55 the lights lowered, and they piped in the Wishes announcement that the show would begin in five minutes, and then played MK music! Then the magic began! The whole sound track from Wishes played, and we weren't seated by the window, but we could see from where we were - it was a wonderful ending to our evening, along with that delicious banana bread pudding with vanilla sauce! Jim did enjoy that, at least!

Next: Yo Ho! Yo WHAT????

I love the Poly. Maybe cuz I want to go somewhere tropical always.. You know hot cabana boys fanning me and bringing me drinks LOL.

Love that you got a Lapu might have to get me one... NOW lol
