Graduate School

I'm sending in apps to three graduate schools in my area.

One in Policy Studies, one in Public Affairs and one in Urban planning.

Anyone have any insight into any of those fields? IF I get in all three, which should I choose?

had a co-worker that got her masters in policy studies. she worked in government and it was highly desirable for work in program analysis.

so much of government (and anything that has to work in conjunction with) is so tied up in policy that the skills to be able to wade through this stuff (let alone understand it) can be very marketable.

my bachelors is in environmental studies and planning (did urban studies with great focus on both the physical and psychological impacts). i found it was very marketable to a variety of careers on the west coast (i think i saw that you are in Washington State). so much more goes into impact studies now with all aspects of proposed change-could afford you a vast variety of career opportunities.

lol, i was just going to say it depends what you want to do. is the policy studies one an mpp? are the other two general ma degrees?

don't know what schools you applied to but university of washington has a very reputable public policy program.

i work in public policy, so i'm happy to give you advice. feel free to pm me.

btw, i'm currently applying for ph.d. programs (political science) - what a pain to fill out all those applications, huh?
