Why won't FW address show up on my GPS?
4510 North Fort Wilderness Trail
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830
Any ideas?

Probably for the same reason my GPS shows grass and dirt for a street two blocks from my house that has been a connector to the park for mmm.... about a 100 years!:thumbsup2 Also if you follow the GPS to get on the interstate down by the stadium, the ramp that is on the 'right' on the GPS has been gone for years, you have to turn left! I've seen many near wrecks by folks faithfully following the little map on their screen.
Unfortunately GPS is not infallible and the databases are just not complete. Disney being private property just may not be updated. Check your GPS for a feature where you can 'drag and drop' on the map. If you can get it to display the WDW property you can get a good approximation of where you need to go.
Another post on this forum was just updated with turn by turn directions to take the back way into the park to FW if coming from the North on the turnpike, see if that might help you.
I've also seen on the web updates available created by fans of their particular GPS brand that have updated WDW maps. Try a google search and see what you find.:surfweb:

We discovered that all of the resorts were in the town of "Bay Lake" not "Lake Beuna Vista." At least they were on our GPS. :confused3

When I set mine it says 570 miles. Turn left on Main. 1 mile from my house. If I turn right ( the correct way ) it resets to 530 miles. I don't know where it wanted me to go for the extra 40 miles.

Yeah, ya gotta use a little common sense with those things. LOL I do find that, when in unfamiliar territory, to listen to them. I may realize later that it took me 30 extra minutes, but it does get me there in times when I otherwise have no clue. I find that the maps on my iPhone however are extremely accurate. Hmmm, wonder why?

if it tells you to turn left and you see Bay Lake make sure you stop LOL

i always love the stories in the papers about some nimrod who turned left into a lake or right into a wall and blamed the GPS

guess they were sleep driving and not looking

Interesting note on Bay Lake. I had to use Orlando to get my nuvi to work. Guess it just depends on the map maker software brand.

Mousesavers has a complete GPS download for the entire WDW area. It's free and is extemely accurate. It includes, hospitals, clinics, drug stores Walmarts, grocery stores, all the resorts, etc.

The collection of waypoints from Mousesavers (and lots of other places, for that matter) are all fine and dandy, but they will not make the GPS work more reliably when routing to those destinations. Ultimately, if the GPS shows a road as general access and it is really restricted access, you are going to end up at a lot of fences! What really is needed is a collection of waypoints to indicate limited access entry points so you can mark them as areas to avoid.

One thing that IS nice about the points from MS is that the marks are for traffic entry points to the attraction, rather than marking the attraction itself. So if you choose Chef de France as your destination it will take you to EPCOT parking, not try to get you to drive around Showcase Lagoon!

Every time we left the fort through the overflow lot area it wanted us to turn left (dead-end). It became a joke by the end of the week because it was so obvious that you had to go right. On the other hand, had we not had the GPS we would have never found our way between FW and ASMo because every CM we asked had no clue.

Our GPS did fine for getting us to the Fort. It didn't bring us in at the Magic Kingdom exit. Comes in I think the exit before. I can't remember the different roads but we come in kinda the back way. Not bad at all.

After that I trusted her again. lol It has tried to get us on roads that aren't there and the first time we went to Atlantic City it just wouldn't get us there. I finally broke out the maps and did it the old fashion way and made our way back to the road we should have been on. lol

I really can't believe though that there are some people out there who would just make a turn and not even look. I guess I can, there are some stupid people out there. Scary that these people are even on the road. :scared1:

Don't use your GPS to get the Fort! Will frustrate you out of your mind!!! I just posted under "Directions to Fort" and some habitual Fort campers gave me great directions for my upcoming trip. GPS takes you in a weird way and might get you lost. Don't do it!!!!!!!!!!! For your own sanity, don't!

A couple years ago ours caused us to miss the turn off the Regan Parkway to 27 like we allways go. DW told me to turn but I was watching the GPS.:confused3
After we went through the $4 tollbooth with the non english speaking person taking the money I reset the GPS thinking it was lost. It took us through every subdivision and construction site in the area before leading us in the back door to the fort.
Have to say it was a very scenic route:hippie:
