GPS Device May Have Cost Woman Disney Job

It seems harsh but we more then likely don't have the whole story. Of course the fired employee is going to make themselves out to be the victim but it might not be the case. I don't know her work history or Disney's side of the story and I highly doubt that Disney is going to make it public out of choice.

Exactly.

Disney's statement that clearly says it's not "just about costuming" tells you that there were other concerns with her performance without saying that expressly.

Which is as much as they could or should say publicly.

:teacher: A person is not given a ankle bracelet to track there comings and goings without a valid reason. It isn't like you get one because you got a speeding ticket once or twice. Something else had to be going on here and I'm pretty sure it had way more to do than the "costume". :sad2:

Exactly, ankle bracelets are used for people under house arrest or on parole, etc etc. They are too costly to use for simple traffic offenses. What she has mostly likely neglected to mention, was that she was arrested for a DUI, declined pre-trial diversion, found guilty, placed on probation, ordered into victim awareness program, community service, write a letter of apology to the officer (which implies she was less than cooperative). She then violated her probation and a warrant was issued in December and probably placed on house arrest, etc etc

Here is a link to the public records just put her name in hyphenated:

And you win the prize......

I find it funny that the article says she was convicted of "wreckless driving". I thought that was a good thing. :rotfl:

Says she couldn't afford the class.

Did a quick Google search and found classes as low as $9.95. There are Basic, Intermediate and Advanced classes. The Advanced is described as "required for those persons who have been identified as Habitual Traffic Offenders (also known as HTO)." And even that class is only $79.

Sheesh. Quit looking for scapegoats and keep your own house in order.

I also have to say that I love the statement "problems that stemmed from a traffic stop." Hmmmm...

No kidding. Someone could be pulled over for speeding with a trunk full of severed heads and it would be a "problem that stemmed from a traffic stop".

Oh my :lmao: , that is tooTOO funny! Spit drink all over the monitor worthy :surfweb: .

agnes!

I'm a probation officer, here in Florida. I am also in charge of ALL GPS and house arrest cases that come through my jurisdiction (not Orange County.) I can tell you with 100% certainty of the following:
  1. a person cannot violate their probation simply because they can't afford something (Just so you know, DUI school in Florida averages between $230-$350 for first time offenders. The defendant isn't afforded the luxury of competitive pricing by being able to go online)
  2. most violations occur when the person commits a new criminal offense, doesn't complete certain conditions that don't cost anything, or by simply absconding.
  3. house arrest/ankle monitors are sometimes used when a person is reinstated to probation, as an alternative to subjecting them to more jail time.
  4. I've had several probationers lose their jobs at Disney when the Mouse found out they had a current and open criminal case (yes, a DUI is criminal in FL.) This leads me to believe they have a policy that frowns upon that sort of thing.
  5. The ladies wear skirts at Wilderness Lodge, the monitor would be highly visible to guests
  6. Guests would not think happy thoughts when they seei a CM wearing an ankle monitor...just sayin'

To me, when a person responsibly cleans up their mess- lt's speaks volumes to the quality of their character. She obviously didn't.

Especially if they've been keeping-up with "24" lately and saw the "wrist monitor removal" episode (http://www.tvfanatic.com/shows/24/episodes/season_8/day-8-600-pm--800-pm/):scared1:

If I read Disney's statement right, she was in her probationary period, not necessarily that she was "on probation" in a legal sense. So pretty much you are on thin ice for anything anyways.

No Sympathy for her at all. Maybe when she takes ownership of what she done, serves her punishment and stops with all these poor me excuses and then and only then proves to society that she is ready to rejoin and be a productive and law abiding citizen should she be given a chance to work for a place like Disney.

Altho I am almost positive she has probably destroyed any chance of employment with any respectable company in the Orlando area after this stunt.

I would think with any employer, once terminated, an ex-employee going to the media is not going to get their job back, nor create warm and fuzzy feelings. I have seen other ex-CMs do this -- even into pretty high positions. Did they really think sounding off to the media was going to win their job back? I take it as revenge and with a grain of salt.
Going by the link another poster provided, she has 4 violations going back to 2007, with the 2007 one against an expired registration.
Reckless driving with alcohol in 2008. Which I assume is the "problems that stemmed from a traffic stop" referred to in the article. Yeah, I would call that a problem. :sad2:
Then goes on to more traffic violations in mid December 2009. Hence, I am assuming is why the ankle bracelet.
It's actually amazing how much info that site gives.
I cannot imagine staying at any hotel or resort and seeing anyone (guest or employee) wearing a police ankle monitor.

Not all the monitoring bracelets are installed for criminal offenses. Kentucky just passed a law that allows them to be used in certain circumstances when a restraining order is issued. In this case, the person has not committed a crime. Using your definition should this person still be allowed to work?

In the case of the OP she has committed several crimes.. including DUI.

She was charged with reckless driving ... chose not to participate in a diversion program etc...

See previous page.

NO WAY would a person, not charged with any type of crime, be made to wear a monitoring device! There would have to be prior offenses against that person to make them wear a device! What happens if an ex goes cuckoo on you and you have to wear that because they want revenge?
