in 2027 vacation were going to have to make a decision
we have a 100 point contract at poly and usually stay for a week in jan
so we have 7 points that are banked plus our 100 contract
my idea and not sure if I even have a chance of it working out
I would book 6 nights at 11 months then at 7 months I would add a night buying the one time use which
would be 24 and then just borrowing one point
does anyone have a guess as to my chances are of getting this I could add on either the first or last day

the other option I thought is to try the new tower rooms the duo studio I know there smaller but really its just my DH and myself so we really dont need alot of room
that way I would only need 102 points so with the 7 banked that would last 3 more years
besides buying more points any other options or tips on making something work out

OTU points are a great option! No one has a crystal ball to see if there is any availability on the date you need to reserve. Assume not and hopefully get lucky.

I had to cancel an October 2025 trip and reschedule to April 2026, but want the cheaper points in early May. I bought 48 OTU points with a couple of contracts and now REALLY have to use them.

I started with 7 nights at Poly (studio) in mid April and started walking them (probably only 2nd time or so in 30 years). I moved to BWV garden studio with one contract and now have 8 nights from late April into early May. I was able to walk a night forward with that contract and use another to get the prior night so now I am at 9 nights. I have four nights prior at AKV Kidani which I hope and expect to change when I get better availability. We have another contract coming online within a few weeks so I can move things around and go back to Poly for 4-5 nights prior.

It takes daily vigilance and keeping good notes. I open multiple screens and this morning even had to go incognito as I kept getting the dwarfs. I finally got my 9 nights at BWV which, IMO is nothing short of a miracle.

So the moral of that wordy story, is to watch what is available and perhaps be ready to call DVC on day 1 of the 7 month window and buy the points you need, booking a resort that IS available for your date with the same number of OTU points (hope you can find something). You can then waitlist AND stalk daily. This increases your chances significantly but takes a bit of work and taking a chance. Good luck!
