It seems harsh but we more then likely don't have the whole story. Of course the fired employee is going to make themselves out to be the victim but it might not be the case. I don't know her work history or Disney's side of the story and I highly doubt that Disney is going to make it public out of choice.
A person is not given a ankle bracelet to track there comings and goings without a valid reason. It isn't like you get one because you got a speeding ticket once or twice. Something else had to be going on here and I'm pretty sure it had way more to do than the "costume".

Exactly, ankle bracelets are used for people under house arrest or on parole, etc etc. They are too costly to use for simple traffic offenses. What she has mostly likely neglected to mention, was that she was arrested for a DUI, declined pre-trial diversion, found guilty, placed on probation, ordered into victim awareness program, community service, write a letter of apology to the officer (which implies she was less than cooperative). She then violated her probation and a warrant was issued in December and probably placed on house arrest, etc etc
Here is a link to the public records just put her name in hyphenated:

I also have to say that I love the statement "problems that stemmed from a traffic stop." Hmmmm...

No kidding. Someone could be pulled over for speeding with a trunk full of severed heads and it would be a "problem that stemmed from a traffic stop".
I'm a probation officer, here in Florida. I am also in charge of ALL GPS and house arrest cases that come through my jurisdiction (not Orange County.) I can tell you with 100% certainty of the following:
- a person cannot violate their probation simply because they can't afford something (Just so you know, DUI school in Florida averages between $230-$350 for first time offenders. The defendant isn't afforded the luxury of competitive pricing by being able to go online)
- most violations occur when the person commits a new criminal offense, doesn't complete certain conditions that don't cost anything, or by simply absconding.
- house arrest/ankle monitors are sometimes used when a person is reinstated to probation, as an alternative to subjecting them to more jail time.
- I've had several probationers lose their jobs at Disney when the Mouse found out they had a current and open criminal case (yes, a DUI is criminal in FL.) This leads me to believe they have a policy that frowns upon that sort of thing.
- The ladies wear skirts at Wilderness Lodge, the monitor would be highly visible to guests
[*]Guests would not think happy thoughts when they seei a CM wearing an ankle monitor...just sayin'
To me, when a person responsibly cleans up their mess- lt's speaks volumes to the quality of their character. She obviously didn't.
I find it funny that the article says she was convicted of "wreckless driving". I thought that was a good thing.![]()
Not all the monitoring bracelets are installed for criminal offenses. Kentucky just passed a law that allows them to be used in certain circumstances when a restraining order is issued. In this case, the person has not committed a crime. Using your definition should this person still be allowed to work?I cannot imagine staying at any hotel or resort and seeing anyone (guest or employee) wearing a police ankle monitor.![]()
