My wife and I will be heading to Orlando for a 10 day/9 night Disney vacation in early November.

Every time we go to Disney, we say, "This time, we'll go and see those DUCKS!" And we never do. We always miss them. And as we're waiting for our flight at the airport and listing all the things we wanted to do, and didn't, and all the things we HAVE to do NEXT time, our list always begins with...THE DUCKS!

So: anybody have any info/tips/suggestions about the best time to see the legendary Peabody ducks??

THIS TIME, WE WILL SEE THE DUCKS! :bounce:

Only saw them on the travel channel special, and it looked like a lot of fun! Those are some ROYAL living ducks! :p

They leave the lobby fountain every day at 4:00 sharp!!

Of course they come down in the mornings, but I don't know when.

My DW and I stayed at the Peabody several years ago. According to the hotel's web site, the ducks march into the lobby at 11:00 a.m. and they return to their penthouse suite at 5:00 p.m. each day. In between you can see them swimming in the fountain or sitting on the ledge of the fountain. The entrance and exit are great to watch. A hotel employee rolls out a red carpet from their elevator to the fountain.

Then the ducks walk down the carpet, being led by a formally dressed employee. The ducks seem to know when it's near 5:00, too, because they start quacking and getting ready for their grand exit.

Once they are in their "suite", guests can go to the roof to visit them!

This is the web site about the ducks in Orlando:

If you want to see the ducks you do need to plan for the march.

I am not sure how it works in Orlando, but in Memphis (the original home of the ducks!) it is a riot. They play a John Phillips Sousa march and the duck handler and the ducks process to the elevator for thier trip to their home.

In Memphis I recall that they actually rotate the ducks so that the same ducks don't come down every day. The hotel also maintains a "duck retirement" farm for ducks who are too old to process any more!
