In a seminar all day, but I saw that the Magic Kingdom is open tonight till midnight. It's only 7 PM, that would give me 5 hours, worth burning a day off my 10 day pass, but guess what? Just learned that the extra hours are for Disney guests only and DTD hotels don't qualify. Guess my $50 ticket isn't good enough.

So instead I'm headed offsite for dinner and cancelling my plans to gift shop next door at DTD. (Like they care, right?)

No offense or anything, but EMH has ALWAYS been only for Disney guests. It's not DIsney's fault for people not researching that.

Which DTD hotel are you staying at? I think I have read many times that those hotels are not Disney hotels they are just located on Disney property. I am sorry that this has not worked out for you. If it helps we found the EME not very useful for MK as our kids fell asleep before the regular closing. However if you have older kids or are just a party of adults it might have been better for you.

I'm sure the businesses off-site will appreciate your business just as much. Did you ever consider doing an off-site activitiy??? show??? The evening @ City Walk @ Universal is neat.

Hilton guests get to take advantage of the Extra Magic Hour, but none of the other DTD hotels do.

I wish I had seen this thread earlier- I hate to tell you but the regular hours today are for everyone- that is up until midnight. Then the extra magic hours run after the regular closing time of midnight.

Considering the difference between off property and on-site prices its kinda a benefit for paying the prices you do to stay on-site. Plus EMH give me a chance to relax and have a good pace during the day and do all the rides at night with a very little waiting period. :cool1:

oops never mind, I just noticed that this post was referring to today. Dorisk is right, MK was open til midnight for all guest and until 3am for onsite guests only. EMH is designed to be a benefit for guests to "encourage" them to stay onsite so it wouldn't make sense for them to offer them to everyone. Then the park would just be open later. I do understand being frustrated when you can't take advantage of something, especially something wonderful like WDW.

Too bad for the OP that they misunderstood the hours for the day. :confused3 5 hours in the MK would be so worth it

As others pointed out--you still would have the 5 hours...but I would also point out that a 10 day pass is not $50 a day--it is more like $21 to $26 a day depending on which ticket you got...Park hopper or not, with extras or not....so guess what? This post says much more about the poster than about Disney...Gotta say: I hate it when people do not know what they are talking about and then post nonsense on the internet.

Oh I forgot one thing, if the Extra Magic Hours were open to everyone there wouldn't be anything "extra magic" about it. It would just be later "hours".

I agree. It's buyer beware in this case.
Do your research ahead of time to avoid such disapointments :sad2:
