So, the FPs for GotG;MAD become available at 3 pm. How does this play into the normal windows for getting FPs? Do you have to be sure you aren't in a 'waiting window' from the last FP you requested or can you still get one at 3pm-ish regardless?

For example, let's say I pulled a FP (this is all via MaxPass) at 2.30pm for RSR, my ride time is 6pm. Normally I'd have a 90 min window and wouldn't be able to do a new FP until 4pm. Is GotG:MAD exempt from the 90 minute rule or will I just have to be sure I request NO FPs after 1.30 (or be sure the window for them opens before 3pm).

We just came home Sunday, and getting FP for both versions of GotG were top priority for my husband and older daughter. We had MaxPass which I think helps a lot. I was able to get them on both versions each of the 3 days we were there, with FP each time. I usually booked the regular GotG FP in the morning, with return times of late morning or early afternoon. Then I needed to plan out my other FP bookings so we were not blocked out when it was nearing 3pm. If you are in the "waiting window" from another previously booked FP at 3pm, you will NOT be able to book MaD FP (unless you have Maxpass and go in and cancel the prior booked FP and open up your booking window).

I will say I was able to book FPs for GotG MaD starting at around 2:45pm or 2:50pm via MP, not 3pm as advertised. I don't know if the paper machines were giving out FPs before 3pm since we never checked that way. The FPs for MaD did go very quickly, gone within 10-15 minutes past 3pm, HOWEVER, if you have MP, keep checking the app to see if someone cancels a FP. I was able to book FP through MaxPass at 8pm for a 9pm ride on MaD on Saturday night (more than once!), I'm guessing due to cancellations within MP, since the regular part of the app showed all FP to be gone at about 3:30pm earlier that day. The only way to see these cancelled FPs is to be in your FP window and attempt to book a FP, then choose CA park, and it will show availability. The times of the available FP were often much earlier than the return times shown on the app in general for many rides, and often there were bookable FPs in MP for things that were showing "all gone for the day" on the app for hours beforehand. A DEFINITE advantage to MP for me!

Saturday had availability and it wasn’t cancellations because of the fast pass system crashing resort wide at 3pm. When it starting coming back online around 5:15 only maxpass was available. And that was the case when I left the parks at 8:30pm.

We were there last week, and we were able to get them each time we wanted. I had the Maxpass and I really think that was why. I saw the lines waiting for the fast pass at the machine and it was long. But the ride is entirely worth it. One castmate told me to start looking at 2:40 and just keep trying. It depends on Disney at what time they are released. I only was able to get on before 3 one time.

The FP crash was a hot mess on Saturday! I do know I was able to get "cancelled" FPs for GOG earlier in the day on other days, when the app was showing returns of 3:30pm, the MP gave a return time of 11:15am. So I **think** there is some advantage to having MP for cancellations, and maybe also in special circumstances such as when all the FP machines go down all at once (like on Saturday afternoon).

Thanks! I forgot about the ability to cancel a FP on MP.

I'll watch my windows to be sure I'm 'free' from around 2.30 on and start checking around 2.40. I'm going solo so hopefully I'll be able to get ONE measly FP. Especially since I'll only be there for one day!!

I screen shot all my MP bookings this weekend. At 2:50pm, I booked GotG MaD for 6:16-7:15pm on Thursday. On Friday we didn’t ride it because of the Halloween party. Saturday, I forgot to try until 3:41pm and all FP were gone.

I would not base Saturday as being all gone. Only a few people were able to get fast passes at 3 right as the entire fast pass distribution system went down. When the system came back online for maxpass only about 2/2.5 hours later guardians had availability that was about a hour out each time I checked and I made sure it wasn’t cancellations by clicking back and refreshing availability and it was still there which when it’s cancellations almost always are gone when you click back in. I was able to hold 3 different FPs for the ride over the course of the evening.

I have MP on my AP for photos, I told my husband we may need to add it to my daughter's AP and either his or my mom's on Saturday because without it we may not be able to get on Monsters after Dark without a ridiculous wait. I do not understand waiting an hour + for a FP for a ride only to "skip" the queue later...waiting is waiting.

I agree that waiting it waiting!! I would spring for MP if you can for the others in your party so you can ride it. It is super easy to book on MP, just making sure your FP "window" is open at about 2:50pm, and go ahead and try to book it earlier than 3pm via the App. Worked for us like a charm (when I remembered!)!!

So if we get to the parks around 2:00 on our travel day and we try for GoG FP, will the original ride view likely be done? Does it make it sense to wait until 2:50 and try for GoG MaD?

We went yesterday and this is how our plan worked- we arrived at DCA at about 2:35 and walked fast to GOTG area. Standby was 25 minutes so hubby took the kids and rode the original version. Meanwhile, I stood in the MAD FP line with everyone's annual passes. Once 3pm hit they let us in. Glad I got in line early because by 3pm the line was massive! I scored fp time for 5:45-6:45! Park closed at 8. Not sure if everyone in that line got fp! I was out of the line just in time to catch the ending of The Guardians Dance Off! We rode at around 6 pm and waited only maybe 5-10 minutes. Hope that helps
