Got waitlisted night but not through match

I logged onto DVC site this morning to check my waitlist. It was still open. I decided to check for another room category, and it wasn't available but the one night I had waitlisted was. I grabbed it immediately and then canceled the waitlist which was still active.

I took a huge risk as the room I had for that night had to be canceled to free up points, but it all worked out. The room I canceled was gone by the time I finished booking the new room. Maybe someone else's waitlist actually worked.

So .... moral of the story is waitlists are still not always matching before released rooms hit the site. It worked out for me this time by fluke (I have chased this night for over two months now and was close to cash booking it bc it was our second night and the only one of our trip not in a BLT lake view studio).

I had GFV 1 bdrm booked but then friends decided to join us in March.

So I tried to get a 2 bdrm at BLT or BW or BC. The BLT became available for the 2nd and 3 rd night.within 48 hours of me checking the website like 7 times a day 2 days later got the 1st night and then 7 days later got the 4th and final night.

Waitlist never kicked in.

I thought the BW would have been easier, but maybe with the monorail going down the BLT had cancellations.

We were so lucky to get the 2 bdrm within 2 weeks, but checking the website and using the ******( which is gone now) really helped.

Glad you got your day too.

And I know I made someone's day when 4 nights opened at the GFV.

Happened to me too. Its common as no one is exactly sure when the wait list gets run through....so its always best to stalk the website when you have a wait list. I saw mine (BLT studio for July 4) and I grabbed it. Unfortunately I needed to use transferred points so I had to hold it online while I waited for MS. Took 40 minutes because it was 11 months from thanksgiving.

Bottom line.....wait list is a good fallback but if you really want a room that's booked....check daily online yourself.
