Got VB through RCI trade in

My parents called today and booked a VB studio for July 2009 using their RCI points. We will be there at the same time so it will work out great! I was a little surprised at how easy it was for them to get into a DVC resort at less than 7 months. Their RCI points were much less than my DVC points - maybe something to consider with the lovely new point charts !!

I'm new to DVC, but have been a member of RCI for a few years. I have to learn how to use them together, to get the best vacation.

If you don't mind me asking, do you happen to know how many RCI points they used to trade into Vero ?

Maybe something to think about instead of another add-on with dvc.

I just searched with our Gold Crown RCI 2 Bedroom deposit (Royal Palm Beach - St Maarten), and I can't see any of the DVC resorts out there in RCI weeks. Hiltons, yes, DVC, no...

My Dad didn't see any DVC locations listed in his new RCI book as possibilities or available online but when he called there it was. He got a full week in a VB studio for July. I will check with him on the number of points it took, but I thought he said around 2200 or something like that. (I only speak DVC language so not sure if that is correct or not.) I agree that it seemed unusual, which is why I posted about it. I was really surprised! Part of me was hoping it would be harder to get into my DVC .

I know I have strayed . But, wanted to let you know you probably will never see a Disney resort in the weeks account. I'd call RCI.

It costs what $125 for RCI to do the conversion but the resorts themselves have seen a way to make extra money and often charge major fees. I bought a points resort already in points with around 50K points a year and yearly fees about $300. My total cost was less than many of the resorts charge for the conversion for what you already own.

At the moment, Disney inventory is being deposited in both Points and Weeks, but you need a very strong trader to see it on the Weeks side.

I just looked today, and saw a two bedroom at SSR last week in august. There were 4 weeks total there. I am a member of RCI weeks. My resort is in Myrtle Beach, SC. The other day, Old Key West was showing up, too.

One thing I just thought of, I have looked late at night. I wonder if it is like II was and a lot of times DVC inventory that was online would be gone by noon. Maybe I need to look in the mornings...

I have searched all times of day. I am hoping to get into a DVC in october or november. IDK if I will get anything, but I hope I will. Unless they offer free dining again. I got a great deal this past november with the free dining promotion.
