Today is DS's last day in kindergarten. I remember 6 years ago when DD#1 had her last day in K and I was hugely pregnant with him. I got misty then too, and her teacher said "I remember when my own daughter was coming her for kindergarten, and now she's in high school". Now her daughter is out of college, DD#1 is going into 7th grade and all my babies will be in school all day! I am picking DS and DD#2 up today for the last day and I hope I don't get all weepy about it.
I'm also sad for my mom--She has watched DS at least 2 days a week since he was 6 months old, every day since he was 3 1/2, even though just half days for preschool last year and K this year. Every day DH has taken him to her house and she brings him home at noon to get the bus. 3 years ago she did the same for DD#2. She spoils him rotten and I have a feeling she is going to take this pretty hard. DH told her she could watch him a couple of morning a week since the girls have every-day things gonig on (DD#1 has theater every day 9-12 and DD#2 has swim team 9:30-10:30) but next fall she'll have nothing to do. At least my dad goes to the Elks every day for lunch!
They do grow up so fast... to all the DIS moms having babies and potty training kids and picking preschools and teething and losing sleep....enjoy it because it just flies by.

Honey I feel your pain. My DD is 3 on Saturday and starting preschool in July. My DS will be 8 in August and going into 2nd grade. There will be no more babies and I am so blue that time is flying. I loved being pregnant and had easy babies so I really in missing that time. I really enjoyed it.

I can relate as well. Sometimes it is hard to appreciate the toddler stages as I am running after my 22 month old all day. She is by far the biggest mess maker out of the three and she's still not sleeping very well at night either. On the other hand, my oldest dd will be 11 this month and my 6yo ds is getting ready to finish up with kindergarten too. Time does fly by way too fast. While each new age and stage brings joys of it's own, it is so sad to let go as well. I'm trying to remember to just sit back and take it all in and enjoy my baby because I know all too well that before too long she will be smart mouthing me and spreading those wings so to speak just like her older sister. Ok I am going to cry now  Enjoy your kids while they are little and thanks for the reminder to enjoy mine.

My baby girl turns 13 this summer! I just can't believe it. That leaves me just 5 years to make memories! Five years! I can't believe I will be the mother of a teenager! I feel like I was just a teenager!

My oldest son is 8 yrs old. My youngest turns 3 yo on the 13th. It's a good thing that I spread them out well, because I don't think I could handle having them all grow up & move out at once. :)

My oldest is only 4 and I already understand that they grow too fast! I imagine I'll have teenagers towering over me before I know it! :(:(:( I wish I could make time stand still...

Our DS is 17 now:(
Time goes by way too fast, he's off to college after his senior year next year. DH and I dread the day and we know it will be here before we know it.
Enjoy every minute with your little ones!

It sure does fly by! My oldest is finishing his sophomore year of HS, and I'm really feeling the time crunch. But I have spread my kids out, so my youngest is finishing kindergarten, and I feel like I have this gift of time thanks to that. All the trips and adventures we took with my oldest two, we'll just have to do it again with my youngest (and the middle one gets to do it all twice, I guess!) I'm not really feeling so weepy about my youngest getting older, since I know the years to come will be great, too. We're ready for this stage of our lives, after having at least one little one around for 15 years. Just not having to deal with strollers, etc, is freeing!

I guess I'd rather focus on watching the boys grow and mature, and enjoying that, than missing what we've already had.

I hear you. Come back and talk to me about when you hook that vest for him and he turns back around to you and towers over you in that tux.

And you leave the room before you embarrass him!
