We stood in 45 minute line for the vaccine last night for the kids. There were police there for crowd control, but it was all very efficient and no problems other than long lines. Seems like every kid in town showed up.......

I WISH I could even find a place to get a shot. All the clinics that have been announced here all end up saying they only have 200 or 400 doses, and people end up in line for hours, with most of the line turned away. I'm 7 1/2 months pregnant and my OB keeps asking if I've gotten it yet - I keep telling them if they can find a place I'll gladly go...

I can't seem to find it here either. I keep calling the dr. office and nothing.

People here had to stand in line for 5 hours:headache: I took one look at the line and choose to wait. I'm glad because I would have never lasted that long. We had a huge outbreak here. 200 schools closed. :sad2: So you can see why people were waiting.

The students at my school received the flu mist for free at school. Is that a district or state thing? :confused3 Are your kids school aged?

How lucky you are that you can get the vaccine! Around here there are so few H1N1 shots that they don't even have enough for the high risk people. :confused3 I have never heard of a public event to get them.

We also still waiting for a seasonal flu vaccine for DS. Those seem to be in short supply also. There have even been front page articles in our local paper about how hard it is to find a flu vaccine. Lots of town are canceliing clinics because they aren't getting the allocation of shots they were expecting.

Well...I didn't get the vaccine ;) but the kids did! I am a teacher, and it was offered to students...I know for sure K-6, not sure of older grades. We had only a few parents elect to get the mist for their kids from each class...maybe 2-10 kids per class?

I have the feeling that they may be wishing they got their kids the mist if H1N1 reappears in the spring...

I got DD6 the H1N1 shot just about two weeks ago. She qualified for the the first round of vaccines. My other DD4 just got it on Tuesday.

I just got a call from my DD6 school stating that they are reporting 10% of the school absent due to swine flu.

I can't find the vaccine for me ANYWHERE and I also work at the school. I know it is just a matter of time before I get the flu, but at least my kids will be okay.

I just got mine today. Two and a half hour wait. Arrived 30 min before it opened at 9 am. Also added the 15 min waiting period that you have to do after the shot has been given.

cool wtg Im a big babay I don't like doctors (:I got to get my flu shot too I need to get it my locla hosptial then I get the HN1 next

It was a flu clinic sponsored by the county health department for everyone in the high risk groups (including kids 6 months-24 years). I work with college students....They qualify, but I don't. So I've been urging them to get it to keep those of us who don't qualify safe as well as themselves!

Incidentally, our doctor doesn't have it and they don't know when they might receive it--and this is a major hospital system in Ohio. The only way to get it is through the Health Department. They had 2500 doses of either shot or mist. You had to get the mist unless their was a compelling reason why you could not do so since they had more mists than shots.

A week and a half ago when I went to my last Doctor's visit with my fiance (I'm 35 weeks pregnant) they asked me if I wanted the H1N1 Vaccine shot and I told them I didn't, they asked my fiance aswell and he didn't want it either. We wanted to think about it except they kept pressuring us into getting it then, at that minute. I wasn't too happy about it, but they were offering it to both of us. :confused3 I just don't have any intentions on getting it, it's just a personal opinion. I'd have to think about it. I have my doubts on the vaccine even though all these doctor's say it's okay.

I think it's almost impossible to get it where I am. People have been standing in line for 5 hours, and there's no way I'm standing in line for that long with a 14-month-old with the possibility of being turned away. I was on the fence about whether to get it, but I guess my decision has been made for me for now. :confused3

disprincessatheart, if you are in Raleigh...

I was able to get it for my kids last night at the Urgent Care at Ten Ten Rd. & Kildaire Farm Rd. in Cary. Google "urgent care of cary"

Also, Wake County is holding clinics Monday:
See the wakegov web site (I can't post links yet!)

Call around to CVS or Walgreens, some locations have it but they can only give it to 14yo+.

Hope one of these options works for you!

I am hoping there is still some available when my kids need the 2nd course in a month!

I'm in Holly Springs, so thanks for the info! I just called and I'm on my way to the urgent care now!!!

eta: Thank you SO MUCH for posting this info. I was planning to do the Wake County Clinic in Fuquay on Monday, but at 33 weeks pregnant I was not looking forward to standing in a long line to get my shot (and not sure I'd make it between how tired i am and having to go to the bathroom so often!) I got in and out of the urgent care in 30 minutes. I heard another mom in there saying she'd just heard about it from her neighbor and came straight over too for her 2 kids. They also said they had 2 other locations with the shot and that they'd basically had it available for the high risk groups for 3 full weeks! It sounds like they're the best kept secret around these days! They said the did run out for about 2 hours yesterday, but got another shipment in the afternoon. They only got 75, so if I'd waited until tomorrow, who knows? But at the same time seems like no one knows they have them, so they don't go very fast, unlike the county clinics that are well advertised. They also took my insurance, so it's free!

They are giving the H1N1 vaccine at schools here in NYC too, but that's about the only place I know of to get it. DD got her seasonal flu shot at her 6mo ped visit on Monday and when we asked about the H1N1 vaccine her ped said their office hadn't gotten any. At least she's already scheduled for her second dose of the seasonal, and her ped's office said they hold some supply for the infants so we won't have to worry about them being out of it. (They do a flu shot clinic for kids over 3, which fill up pretty much as soon as they open up appointments for them.)

Commenting for no reason other than the fact that I know EXACTLY where you are talking about---my FIL lives just down the road from there!

On the note of h1n1 vaccine--my daughters were able to get the mist the other night at a free clinic here in OH. We missed the first one that had the shots and I was a little worried about the mist--but they received it on Thursday, and so far, no issues with it. There has been a lot of h1n1 confirmed around here and my youngest may have had it, but they didn't test her. I was told that whether she had truly had it or not, our pediatrician still recommended the shot because they expect this swine flu season to be a long one.

I have my doubts on the vaccine even though all these doctor's say it's okay.

Because you personally know better than trained medical professionals, right?
:rotfl:

The H1N1 vaccine is made exactly the same way as the seasonal flu vaccine. They make a different seasonal flu vaccine every single year using the same techniques. It's the same vaccine with a new virus.

There is NO scientific evidence that modern flu vaccines are dangerous, including this one.

BTW, the guy who published the first research on the idea that vaccines are dangerous has been found to have faked his research for money. He was paid by lawyers and has made hundreds of thousands of dollars testifying in cases against vaccine manufacturers. Meanwhile, kids are dying because they're not vaccinated. If there is a hell, that guy should burn in a very special section of it.

I know better about what I want than they do. It's my choice, and my choice is to not get it. Simple as that. Who said that they know better than these professionals you speak of? No one here has. We're just stating our opinions. You have yours, and we each have our own.

Well we are leaving in just a little bit and plan to wait in a long line to make sure we are all protected. I may have even had it but because we don't know for sure I want to be covered. I was pregnant then too, but they never got them in for me to get while pg. So now I am pumping my milk and I want to make sure I'm covered before my trip. My grandson, DD (his mom), my other DD 18 with asthma, my best friend and her son and another friend and her 3 sons are all going.
I can say a little while ago I had no intension of having it. But I have quickly changed my mind after seeing how bad this has gotten and how many have died from it. When I was sick I had it for 3+ weeks and was hospitalized one of those weeks.
