Hubby gave the go-ahead to start planning :Pinkbounc . Yeah, I know it's early and all that, but by the time his overseas tour is done, it will be July and that's just way too hot for us (BTDT).

So... Thanksgiving questions -

1) Are the crowds unbearable? Comparable to summer crowds?

2) When do the Christmas decorations go up?

3) Are the parks all open (except the water parks, of course) during Thanksgiving?

4) Should I go ahead & reserve? Are they even booking out that far yet?

5) Are there any special happenings for Thanksgiving dinner?

Thanks so much for the answers!

I was there last Thanksgiving - crowds were there but not at all unbearable. The weather was great, if a little chilly. I don't think you will be able to book this far in advance, at least with discounts. Airlines probably don't have their schedules out yet for booking.

I think the Liberty Square tavern does a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. A few other places do too. We're going again this Thanksgiving so I can give you more info after.

Some things were decorated. The Dolphin resort was decorated with a huge tree in the lobby, but other things were not completely decorated yet. I don't thing the Grand started putting up their stuff until after.

November is my favorite month to go. Thanksgiving week is crowded but not unmanageable and you won't have the summer heat to deal with. Weather can be unpredictable, so watch the weather and plan accordingly. Christmas decorations are up and best of all, if you stay a few days after Thanksgiving you can attend MVMCP!
Take tips from the Dis boards to plan your itinerary. Probably the biggest tip for Thanksgiving week is stay away from MK on Turkey day! All of the parks and one of the water parks will be open. We are from Michigan and always make it to a water park in the winter. Even 70 seems nice and warm when your neighbors are wearing winter coats and boots!

Go ahead and book and just watch for discounts. It's great to get your name on the countdown list!

Have a great time planning!

I booked for November 18-25, 2005 a couple of weeks ago...AKL, deluxe savanah view. I was able to get the AAA discount and will, of course, watch for codes as time goes on. This will be our "extra" trip with our APs. Since we will have been to the World less than 6 months before, we should know what we do and don't want to ride, so that should make it easier to mangage the crowds.

We have also booked our Nov. '05 trip. We will be there from Nov. 27th-Dec. 4th. We got a AAA rate as well. So I say go ahead and book that trip. The airlines do not sell tickets this far in advance, so that will have to wait. Enjoy and have a great time.
