Thanks to a post on here I got the clearance DSlite from Radio Shack. where is the cheapest place to buy games? What else do I need for it? A case, screen protectors, etc. Any suggestions welcome, also I can add a 1yr warranty to it for $10, would you recommend I do this? I have 30 days to decide on that.

Game Stop is the best place to buy games. You can buy new or used games. The used ones can be returned within 7 days if your child doesn't like it. Also you can buy gift cards so your child can go and pick whatever they want. Some sort of case is good. Something that stores both the DS and games. The only other thing you may want is a car charger if you will be taking it on long trips and definitely get an extra stylus.

As for the warranty, I would use your child as the judge. Is this for a young child? Are they hard on their toys? Both my kids have had theirs over a year and no problems, but $10 is not much for the peace of mind.

We skipped the $10 warranty. It is only for a yr. They would normally replace the unit if something happened, BUT b/c the lite is being discontinued, I asked what would happen. They said we would get $ back. Well, me getting $99 back for the unit would not be helpful, b/c it might be difficult to impossible to buy a new DS lite in a yr, so then I would have to get a DSi and it's going to cost a lot more than $99. I'm opting to spend the extra $ to get my kids the nerf cases, b/c I heard that they are good for kids for protecting the units. The nerf cases are about $15-$16 each. I'm hoping that TRU has an accessory sale or something, so I can get at least 25% off.

Definitely get a screen protector. I've also heard good things about those Nerf cases.

I also agree with a Nerf Case....I jsut got the DSi for my boys (149.99 at target, but going onsale Sun for $119, so I'll get a price adjustment) and I will be getting them the nerf case.

Look at TRU for sales on games. I know last year they ran a buy1, get 1 50% off. Check Target for some games on clearence.

Five Below, if you have one near you, also has accessories.

do you know if the sale price that starts Sunday at Target will be online as well as in stores?

Nerf gear is on sale on Amazon today for their Black Friday preview sale. Highly recommend them! Make sure you get the right size!

Just wanted to say that Nintendo is AWESOME about warranty repairs. We've sent in my daughters DS lite twice and got a new replacement in the mail lickety split.
I wouldn't buy a store warranty unless it covers loss (as is my case...my son left it somewhere or it fell out of the car) :rotfl2:

More info on the DSi at Target, tomorrow for $119?

For cases if it is a boy I would definitely say the Nerf case! My daughter has a different case for girls 9more of a purse) and that works but my son has dropped or spilled so much on his that I am positive the nerf case saved us.

My kids' favorite games for their DS are the Mario ones.

She is 6.5 but gentle with her toys however that nerf case looks like it might be a good idea just in case. Now quick question, if I get the nerf case then do I get a little bag or something to put it in so that she can have all the games with it?
