Got the dining plan but also got a issue

When we were there, we could pick up a box of Entemann's donuts and a half-gallon of milk for one snack credit each. That covered a light breakfast for all four of us, and the kids could still get a snack later in the day.

You can no longer get the box of donuts and milk with snack credits. WDW changed the snack credits to "single-serving size". No large bags of chips anymore, either.

We did the deluxe during FD last year, and it was wonderful. Yes, we overate & were at the restaurants more than the parks, but there were many positives. The only thing we paid for OOP was the yogurt & fruit parfait at MK bakery (because I didn't realize you couldn't get it with a snack credit). We usually eat 3 meals a day, so we had chosen many buffets with characters for DD6. This was a high point of her trip, as was the HDD and MBBQ, which we tried for the 1st time, at two credits each. We skipped our normal grocery stop (due to the abundance of snack credits), and I did not stock our luggage with tons of fruit snacks, etc. I also chose a standard room (instead of the prior year's preferred) to help with the cost. We were able to experience a few higher end eateries, like Narcoosees, and enjoy lots of appetizers, which are sometimes the most enjoyable part of the meal. Some of our snack credits were used for souveniers for classmates, family, (always nice to share large lollypops and various stuff from Goofy's) etc. Once I deducted all the savings from the above, it was just a few hundred extra that was worth spending for a "different" WDW experience for us. Probably wouldn't go deluxe w/o free dining plan, but if you ask DH, he may say he would!
