I have the add-on paper sitting on my table for over a week now. I have already paid the deposit over the phone. However, I am having a hard time deciding if this is the best thing.

The price, after the $10, is $79. Because I have a December use year, so I get one extra year's worth of points starting from 12/03.

However, the price is still much higher than buying resale for other DVC properties. I know I can pay $74 for a contract with full banked 2002 and 2003 pts at BWV (closing one right now) including closing cost and everything else. So if you use $10 for 2002's pts, that will bring the price down to $64 vs. SSR's $79.

Is the $15 worth it for the extra 12 years?

SSR will be the largest resort and it seems that once everything is completed, the availability may not be really an issue, especially the point requirement is higher than OKW while the rooms are similar sizes like BCV/BWV/WLV. The only draw is that it has more grand villas which I don't think we will really need.

However, it seems that this will be the lowest price I can ever get SSR from Disney before 10/31. Some people say that you can always buy resale, however, by then, you may have a few less years' pts so I am not sure net net if it is really cheaper.

Also, do you think the MF will be lower or comparable to OKW once everything is completed? I know the MF for 2004 is much higher than OKW, can't figure out why.

Thanks for any input.

dont forget to add on the price per point of closing costs and dues for those banked points. And will you still hvae all those points with a reasonable amount of time left to rent out, by the time you close?

Depending on the amount of points youre talking about, there may not be much difference at all. If that's the case, then fall back to the age old question of where do you want to stay.

On the MF, I would assume some of the difference will pay for lifeguards etc. at the pool and some for the real estate of the food court and other common facilities

Also, wondering if the property taxes are higher there since it is close to DTD

Thanks

how value are those extra 12 years, when you no longer can use them at Beach club, or Boardwalk or old key west?
THis is a ? I ask myself all the time.

Kansas,

I am thinking of SSR as the OKW of the new millenium. Those hardy pioneers who bought in at the very beginning could not have forseen the incredible growth including bwv, vwl, bcv, hhi, or vb. My bet is that our old favorites will have contract extensions available in addition to many new and exciting dvc accomodations come 2042 and beyond. As Doc would say..."stay tuned".

In 2043 there may not be an OKW, BCV and such, but there will be other resorts to choose from by then......Eagle Pines, maybe a monorail resort...............

My sentiments exactly, I bet Eagle Pines will be coming along, and maybe the rumored Contemporary, your options may be endless. Not only that, it wouldn't bother me not having anywhere but SSR if that is what came to be. Unlike a lot of people, I feel the location is wonderful and I loved the models when I saw them.
