I just happened so see a new report with the atty general here in Texas. They were talking about how car dealers in the area were charging people for "customer benefits package" that turns our is book of coupons for you to use at the dealership. And not even for free services but at a "discounted" rate. Apparently the dealership cannot make you purchase this--it is supposed to be optional but they dont give you an option. They just charge you for it. I remembered that when we bought dh truck in 2001 and my suburban in 2002 we were "given" these coupon books. So I called each dealership and told them we werent given the option to refuse these "benefits" and we hadnt used them and we wanted a refund. Guess what?? I got! No problems at all. We got $249 from one place and are getting $289 from the other.
