okay..this is officially nuts...it is Monday Oct 24, and they just issued a special weather warning here in Western MD...for SNOW.. in the higher elevations?...just 10 miles from here it's snowing lightly..while we have pouring rain and a high temp of 47..it's way too early in the season for this!..and yes, I know that our FL neighbors are in the middle of another hurricane, and I feel sorry for them..but I don't want to turn the heat on yet..thankfully we had our wood delivered and got the rest of it stacked yesterday while the sun was shining!

Thankfully no snow has been reported for our area yet. But we have been running the Monitor(heat source) for a while now.

We had snow in the mountains a couple of weeks ago....but it is gone now. We have had thick fog for about 3 days now. It has burned off for the first 2 days but today it is not going away! :confused3

I think it is going to be a weird winter!! Our animals are starting to grow a thick coat...which usually means a cold winter...but, since they are getting thick so late in the Fall....I wonder if winter won't get bad until after Christmas!? Could be interesting..... :teeth:

Calling for 3-6 inches in the higher elevations around here tomorrow night. I also saw a car with a few inches on it yesterday morning.

I always believe the animals know more than people when it comes to weather. ::yes::

I am sooooo sorry. I used to live in the mtns in upstate NY. To this day the phrase 'snow in the higher elevations' makes me twitch. :cold:

Just your eye twitches....or your whole body? :rotfl: Either way...I know exactly what you mean!! :teeth:

:scared: S**w, too early, too early, too early!

Could have 6 inches or more here at the lake by Wednesday morning.. I'm trying to pack so I can hightail it out of here if it's okay tomorrow, but it's slow going.. Besides packing, there's so much other stuff that has to be done to close up the place...

Maybe I'll just stay and they can thaw me out in the spring... :rotfl:

Please don't say that word!
Last year (Aug. 2004) we moved from sunny CA. to MI. It was my first winter and I think people are crazy to live where it snows. Since I'm still here and will be for at least another winter, I guess that includes me. I remember riding with DH and kids to the store and this other car loses control and was skidding toward us. Luckily they recovered and there was no crash but I was in tears. DH is saying "It's okay, it's okay". And I'm sobbing "No it's not okay! Why do people live here?!"
Needless to say I am dreading another winter. It's long and depressing to me. The snow can be pretty at times I'll admit that but the long never-ending gray days are hard to deal with. Someone said there's some sort of light that you can buy that helps with the gray days. I don't know, maybe it's just something you have to get used to. :confused3 One good thing is my DH loves to go snowmobiling and the kids love to go sledding. :)

No snow here. We usually have a day or two that we have had some flurries by now, but nothing so far. It isn't quite cold enough to snow yet though. If the snow would hold off until after Nov 5th that would be great then it can snow all it wants. We haven't had good snow for YEARS! We only got 9" of snow all last winter :sad2: .

they are calling for snow in some of our viewing area as well! :rolleyes1

According to the National Weather Service: (For Northeastern PA)

The Winter Storm Watch is now in effect from late tonight through
late Tuesday night.

Periods of rain will mix with... and eventually change to wet snow
by late tonight or Tuesday morning over the Poconos. Snow could become
heavy at times... especially later Tuesday and Tuesday night. More
than 7 inches of heavy wet snow is possible by Wednesday morning.

We leave for Disney in 12 days!!!!

Very beginning of this October we got hit with a huge snowstorm--we had to cancel school half way through the day and school was cancelled the next day because of the snow...we ended up with just over 13 inches of snow in just over 24 hours!
I look forward to winter storms for the rare storm days we get off from school :teeth:
It has all since melted but our temps are getting a little colder (40 degrees today) so hopefully more snow is on the way!!

No way! What part of the Poconos are you in? I better not get it down here.
