Okay, so our wedding is less than two weeks away (woo hoo!), and we're getting really excited. We're also trying to brace ourselves for the very real possibility that it might rain on us. (We're getting married in the morning at Japan Pavilion in Epcot.)

Our backup location is American Adventure, which actually looks very pretty, even if it is totally different than we'd planned.

It'd be great to hear some stories from people who got rained on, if only to help us imagine it so we won't be devastated if it happens to us. :)

Thanks, all! :thumbsup2

I'm in the same boat! Although I think our sites are fine in the rain, I'm worried about people's flights being delayed & possibly having a hurricane at the same time.

I don't think you'll have to worry about a hurricane if your wedding is in two weeks. According to the latest models, there's going to be a break in tropical activity after Josephine (who is going to go out to sea). As it looks right now, you should be fine as far as a hurricane. (Note - not a weather geek, just gonna be married to one :rotfl: )

A friend of mine, her daughter had her wedding there it was supposed to be held in Italy in EPCOT, well it rained and AmericanAdventure was the back up. They said it couldn't have been better. They were very happy with it, they had a great time everything work ed extremly well no complaints. I saw her album and OMG just beautiful. I wish I could have my wedding in Disney!! Congrats and Good Luck!!

Oh, you poor thing! :lmao:

My DH was a meterology major in college and now does noise, vibration and air quality work for aviation companies. Be prepared for lots of nights watching the weather channel! :happytv:

Sorry to hijack!

I'm glad I'm not the only one. ::yes::The Weather Channel is rarely off in our house. The worst is when he picks up his laptop and comes running into where I am - the other day it was the bathtub as I was taking a bubble bath - just to show me radar images of a storm. He's holding this thing up to me talking about eyewall rotation and I'm just sitting there - captive!! :rotfl2: I've started to get back at him. Now I run whereever he is and start talking wedding. "Honey, do you think Boardwalk or Yacht Club?" "Which shade of yellow should I use?" and my personal favorite - "Do you like this invite - it will require ribbon tying - can you do that?" He was so distracted and caught up in weather that he agreed to it!! :lmao:

Sorry that I continued the hijacking!

Thank you SO much for your response. That makes us feel better! :thumbsup2

Another thing: Talk to your wedding planner about what time they make the call to switch your location. Apparently for Epcot ceremonies, they make the rain call the night before at 9:00 :scared1:. Knowing how quickly the weather can change in Florida, this really concerned me. My planner very kindly agreed to push the decision off to 6AM on our wedding day, and it made me feel SO much better. (As it turned out, we had gorgeous weather.)

Depending on how much set-up your ceremony requires, DFTW might be able to do the same for you. :thumbsup2

I am Italy with our backup being America. Glad to hear this location is a great backup.

My DP was rained out - we were supposed to be at the GF Marina Patio and we were switched to the Whitehall room. Although the view of the fireworks was not as good (the monorail goes right in front of the view) I think it was a better location for a party. We were concerned about privacy at the patio and the Whitehall room was very private.

Our pre-reception was rained out as well - we were supposed to be in the Tamu Tamu courtyard (This is across the walkway from the Tusker House) and so we were moved to the "schoolroom" at Tusker House. This was kind of a bummer - the room seemed a little small and didn't have nearly as much atmosphere as the courtyard. Of course, the pre-reception was still very nice and thank goodness it didn't rain when we were walking from the Tusker House to the Theater of FOLK!

Florida mornings are usually dry..it is the afternoon when the heat builds out west the thunder boomers roll in

someone told me a saying the other day and I love it:
If it rains on your wedding day just remember, it is harder to untie a wet knot!!

The heavens opened when I was waiting for the carriage to pick me up at the Grand. I did worry as I thought they would cancel the carriage, but thankfully they didn't.

I was also told its good luck if it rains on your wedding day.

I don't have any experience with a rain out, but I know dizneyfreak also had a rained out DP and I'm sure she would be more than willing to share with you on her experience.

I was married in the AAR though, so if you want to see your backup location please check out my report :goodvibes
