Roku TV users will now be required to use Plex Pass for remote streaming. By 2026, other platforms will have the same paywall.

Streaming companies are sure making it difficult to want to use their services. I pay for the Disney+/HULU/ESPN bundle and haven't used it in months. I have the free version of Peacock, I bet I haven't used that in 2 years. Now my Dish Sling, I used it this weekend when I was 400 miles from home to watch a program off my DVR at home.

Why are you paying for services if you don’t use them?

Since OP never seems to provide links to what they're talking about...

Plex will soon require users to have either its Remote Watch Pass or Plex Pass to access a server not connected to their home network. If you or the owner of the server have either of these subscriptions, you'll be able to continue to watch remotely.

beginning this week, Plex will require users to pay for a subscription, either a Plex Pass or a new, lower-cost Remote Watch Pass, to stream personal media remotely to Roku devices, the company announced in a forum post (via How-To Geek). So, if you usually watch movies or shows from your home server while away, you’ll now need a paid pass.

Are there other options if you want to watch your own (or someone else's?) stored content when you're away from home?

Why do people think they're entitled to companies providing their services for free?
