Got Pixie Dust? A June 2009 PTR ~TR Link, Page 180

I guess you could always do the in-room babysitting too??? Would Chelsea like that better????

Did you enjoy Yachtsman? That's where Charles wants to eat for our date night (the man loves his steak).

I had budgeted a certain amount for staying 7 nights at Caribbean Beach originally, and when the 4/3 deal came out, Beach Club was the same price -- we just couldn't pass it up -- normally I would NEVER be able to justify that much money for a hotel.

My SIL has the Mesa Red hipster -- it's adorable!!! It will look great with all that Mickey luggage you bought.

I would say overall the Yachtsman was good. It was REALLY COLD (in the restaurant) the night we were there. I ordered chicken noodle soup to warm up. ;) I really enjoyed my filet mignon - but DH got a different cut of meat than he usually gets and was so-so about it. I have only heard great things about it though.:thumbsup2

Okay from someone who's stayed at the BCV 3x...you gotta all of the important selling points down...:thumbsup2

Just some FYIs about Jellyrolls and Atlantic Dance Hall. Jellyrolls is busiest on Tuesday nights when it is CM night..(it could be different now that PI clubs are closed). It's super crowded but also the most lively. It also is livelier when there are conferences at the Swan/Dolphin. Otherwise you could walk in and there might be 20 people in there....

Atlantic Dance Hall is never busy...but it's a nice place to grab a drink.

Jellyrolls won't let you take drinks out, but ESPN and Atlantic will in plastic cups. It's nice to walk along the Boardwalk and grab a bench and enjoy the view with beverage in hand....

some other hidden gems of the BC..the solarium is a nice place to just sit and relax after a long day.....there's some seating in the lobby that can be fun just to sit and people watch......

Let me know when you decide... :rolleyes1 :goodvibes

I was hoping you would decide for me...:rolleyes1

great...........now you have ME wanting to change to the Beach Club!!
I change my mind at least 3 times a day on where I'm staying!

Oh, I am such a resort changing addict that I can't believe I haven't changed resorts since November 6th. I even know the date! :lmao:

That's a good suggestion, but I don't think I would ever be able to leave a stranger in my hotel room with my children. I am so paranoid like that. It will be a big thing for me to leave them at the Sandcastle Club. :goodvibes

Charles is a filet man, but I may have convinced him to try Flying Fish instead. ScottNY gave a review of it over on his TR that made it sound soooo good!

Whew! I am glad I have pinpointed most of them! :thumbsup2

Tuesday is the night we are planning on going so now I am super, super excited. Jellyrolls needs lots of people in it to make it fun and if those people are CMs, it will be that much more fun!

Thanks for the tips on the plastic cups -- sitting on a bench with a cold one sounds heavenly!

With another day of rain here in Georgia (we have all forgotten what the sun looks like), I have been dreaming of the Beach Club and thinking about all the things we are looking forward to experiencing.

1. Stormalong Bay: Two and a half acres of sandy-bottomed fun! 300-foot slide! Lazy river! Poolside drinks from Hurricane Hannah's!

2. Campfire and movies on the beach: This sounds like something we would love to do one evening when we are too wiped out to stay at the parks any longer.

3. Illuminations from the boat dock or room balcony: What bliss!

4. Walking distance to Epcot and a boat to Disney Hollywood Studios: Does it get any better than that?

5. Yogurt parfaits at the Beach Club Marktplace: Chelsea and I both think this sounds delicious.

6. Crafts in the afternoon: I found this out over on the Beach Club thread. We love our crafts!

7. The Boardwalk: We have never been over there and want to try the Boardwalk Bakery and Seashore Sweets. How far a walk it is?

8. Turndown in the evening: At Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge they leave little proverbs. Do they leave something similar with the chocolates at Beach Club?

9. Beaches and Cream: Will we be brave enough to tackle a Kitchen Sink? When is the best time to go?

10. Cape May Cafe: Which is better breakfast or dinner?

So, here is my BIG question for everyone. Charles and I want to have a date night while we are at the Beach Club. We want to head over to Jellyrolls and Atlantic Dance Hall on the Boardwalk. So, we would need to leave Chelsea and Connor at the Sandcastle Club (the Beach Club's kids' club). Has anyone ever used the kids' clubs? What did the kids think of it? How long do you typically leave them for? When can I make reservations? At 90 days with my ADRs?

What am I missing that I should include in my Beach Club plans?

I am excited just thinking about it all!

I'll try and answer some of these questions for you:

The walk to the Boardwalk is pretty close and really close depending on where your room is at the BC.

When you're out late like I always am you can see them making baked goods for the next morning!!!MMMM..........

Beaches and Cream is almost always busy! I've rarely gone when there isn't a wait. We did sit at the counter in 2007 and we didn't have to wait. Hope you have some good mojo!

We have only done the breakfast at Cape May. We went right before the breakfast was over and had the place pretty much to ourselves and had the undivided attention of the characters....

You're the best, Jordan! Thank you! Did you like the food at Cape May?

I need to find out what time Boardwalk Bakery and Beaches and Cream open -- I hear there is almost always a line in the morning at the bakery also.

The breakfast buffet was standard..not great..not bad...Wendy, Derek and I were amazed how quiet it was for a Character meal....

We've walked right by the Bakery because of the line.

If you have any other questions about this resort area let me know. We've stayed at the BWV 3x, the YC 1x and the BCV 3x.....

Wow! You are definitely a Crescent Lake vet! No wonder you have a fave bartender at ESPN! :thumbsup2

I'm with you. Brooklynn had a good time playing at the kids' club while we were doing the DVC tour. Your big kids will have fun meeting other kids, too. I'd rather do that that have them in the room.

Disney World has to be one of the best places in the world for people watching!

I think the Boardwalk Bakery opens at 6:30.

I agree, living kids in the room is the worst thing to do, your there to have fun right? So leaving them playing at kids club is the best way to do while doing a DVC tour.

I actually have a few favorite bartenders, but I've known Matt the longest...Joe is another nice guy....:thumbsup2

I wonder if we will meet them in June? ;)

Me too! I think they will have fun (even Chelsea) once they are there. I read about all the stuff they have and video games were mentioned -- Connor will be all set.

Without a doubt. I always find myself doing it -- especially in lines for rides.

Thanks! Allears says the same thing. We will be taking an early morning stroll to get breakfast goodies to try and avoid the lines.

Oh, sure, sure, pass the buck to me. :lmao:

Yep, I was taking the easy way out. :goodvibes

Actually we aren't doing a DVC tour, but planning a night out. Either way though I think we will feel better leaving them at the kids' club. :thumbsup2

Just saw your PTR. Only read the first page. We are going the exact same dates as you (june 6-13) and I have a Conner too!

:welcome: Thanks for joining in and reading!!! Are you staying on-site? I absolutely cannot wait -- I am so ready for some Disney magic and warm weather. The cold is killing me!

Isn't Connor/Conner such a great name? :rotfl:

Jackie - how cold is it down your way? It is TOO DARN COLD here!!! :crazy2:

I hear the name Connor all over the place and I was afraid there would be a ton of Connor's when Connor started school. But, mine is the only Connor in both the morning and afternoon preschool classes! :cool1: I'm hopeful it'll be that way next year in kindergarten. :thumbsup2

It is 14 degrees here this morning!!! This former Charleston girl does not like it one bit! Anything below 60 degrees is pretty much too cold for me. I really need to go grocery shopping, pick up Charles's contacts, and run by the pharmacy but the thought of getting out in that cold is not appealing! I am ready for June's sweltering temps in Orlando.

My Connor has never actually met another Connor in any of his classes, etc., which surprises me since I, too, have run into a lot of people (on the DIS boards mainly) with Connors.

Wow! 14 in Georgia!! I just checked online and it says it's 3 degrees here!! Too cold for Maryland. I know what you mean about not wanting to go anywhere. Brrrrrrrrrrr.

I was at the dentist with the boys the other day and I said Connor's name and this little boy looked at me. Turns out he was a Connor (or Conner ;) ) too. That happens to us a lot.
