In the spirit of this Disney-obsessed PTR, I have decided to list what I am most thankful for at WDW.

1. Dole whips and gingerbread men with Mickey ears.
2. Haunted mansions, spinning teacups, and mountains that splash.
3. Gift shops and character buffets.
4. The smell of oranges on Soarin'.
5. Monorails that spout the only Spanish sentence I know.
6. A castle and pixie dust.
7. Seeing the magic reflected in my family's eyes.
8. Being able to act like a kid again.

What are you most thankful for at WDW?

My list is going to include everything Disney.

2. The magic of walking down Main Street and feel the happiness of everyone around you, even if you're having a bad day.
3. Shopping.
4. The ability to be 5 again.
5. The feeling of weightlessness on Tower of Terror
6. Having the ability to fly with pirates, handgliders, and pixies
7. 3-D rides where you have a mini-competitiion with family, even though it means nothing.
8. Getting stuck in the international room of "It's a Small World" and hearing the song in 10 languages at once.
9. Meeting new people who love Disney or give you new hints about the parks
10. Having the love of Disney introduce me to so many wonderful people online.

In the spirit of all things Disney and not necessarily Disney WORLD:

I'm thankful for:

1-The DIS! and all the great peeps I've met on here!
2-How cheesy my DH became at Disney
3-How happy my kids are at Disney- World or Land...
4-Soarin' and ToT
5-How silly and childlike a character can make ME feel!
6-The way planning a Disney vacation is more exciting then planning any other vacation destination.
7-That Walt Disney himself is such an inspirational man and story. If he wasn't I'm not sure Disney would be such an awesome place.
8-That both DLR and WDW are in warm places. Because I live in such a cold place 8 mos out of the year and that's important to me.
9-The sight of a mouse makes me scream.
10-My kids are well-trained in sighting hidden mickeys.

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving, Julez! I love your #5 -- I always feel like a teenage groupie when I spot a character!

3. DVC points
4. Less drowsy drammamine that allows me to ride my favorites...
5. My favorites, EE, TOT, Soarin, MS, and BTMRR
6. My DH who loves Disney so much because I do!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday! It seemed like ours just flew by! Now here we are about to embark on all the madness of the Christmas season.

The elves arrived last night. Does anyone else have elves that come to visit every year? We have two -- their names are Haddon and Ingrid, and they were lured to our house by water and cracker crumbs. During the day they look like little rag dolls, but at night, after Chelsea and Connor sprinkle them with "magic snowflakes" they become less-than-ideal houseguests. Last year they got into a lot of trouble -- they have been known to toilet paper the bathroom, drag out all manner of toys, and string clean clothes all over the Christmas tree -- it's no wonder that Santa is so quick to send them off to visit for a month every year. They wear me out.

This year they arrived with new pajamas and sleeping bags for their extended stay. Chelsea and Connor are just beside themselves with excitement at their coming. I, on the other hand, can't help but wonder what will happen this year with them.

Here they are looking all sweet and innocent -- ready for late-night carousing.

I am sure that you will be hearing much more about them as the month progresses (they are here until the 24th when Santa will pick them up when he stops by the house).

Your elves are so cute! I can't wait to hear about the mischief they come up with. The DIS boards is the first place I've ever heard of this adorable phenomenon! I wonder if I can talk Santa into sending us an elf. I think my little girls could use a bit of a reporter in the house at this time of year!

I am late in saying what I am thankful for at WDW, but the #1 thing is:

Providing a QUALITY vacation for my family. A place where it seems we have walked into a story book where the colors are brighter and everything is happier. It's our "dream week". No worries about bills or taxes. No grocery shopping. No cleaning. Just being a child and a lot of smiles.

Jackie, you are the awesomest mom ever. I have never heard of doing this and it is 100% adorable. My kids would totally delight in this sort of thing but I don't know that I'd have the stamina to keep it up an entire month! Maybe a week....

My MIL and SIL "clued" us in about them last year. I don't know how good of reporters they are since they seem to spend most of their time writing badly spelled notes and making messes.

I am late in saying what I am thankful for at WDW, but the #1 thing is:

Providing a QUALITY vacation for my family. A place where it seems we have walked into a story book where the colors are brighter and everything is happier. It's our "dream week". No worries about bills or taxes. No grocery shopping. No cleaning. Just being a child and a lot of smiles.

I love being able to escape the real world for the Magic World as MeMom calls it -- you put it so perfectly -- no worries and no chores -- can't beat it!

The elves are Magic Elves (there is a website under that name), and you can "adopt" a wide variety. Santa lets them come stay for awhile after all their work is done (I am guessing Haddon and Ingrid are not top producers given their penchant for well-meaning, but often disastrous, fun). At night the kids sprinkle them with "magic snowflakes" (which if I didn't know better would say were paper hole punches), and then the elves do whatever. Some nights they play, some nights they bring little gifts -- last year they brought baking supplies and card kits a couple of nights. On Christmas Eve they head back to the North Pole with Santa.

I can't even begin to describe how much my kids love them.

Oh, Julia, trust me, by the end of the month I am exhausted, both creatively and physically. Chelsea and Connor begged me to let them come early this year, and I kept saying, "Santa DOES NOT release elves until December 1st!"

Wow! I *almost* wish some elves would come live with me. But the extra clean up I could do without. I make enough of a mess myself!

What a fantastic holiday tradition! Can't wait to hear what they are planning this year!

I have an elf that comes to my classroom on Fridays in December, but he's a good guy. He leaves treats, like Christmas pencils, candy, etc.

I hadn't thought of doing anything like that at home, but I think it would be fun to do when my grandkids are old enough to have fun with it.

I love the elves! I also hadn't heard of them until this year on the Dis. I'm still not 100% how they work. I'm very curious as to where one might acquire some elves for service.

Jackie! I LOVE the top 5 things to be thankful for at WDW! What a great thing to post about! Here are mine.........

5. Magical Express.....the sight of the buses upon arrival
at MCO brings tears to my eyes EVERYTIME!!
4. The smiles on my boys faces when we drive under
the "Welcome to Disney World" sign!
3. The opening music at any of the theme parks...again
instant tears!
2. The GORGEOUS Animal Kingdom Lodge
1. That is OK to dress in character t-shirts all week and
be a kid again with my own kids!!

CP--LOVE your Thankful list---you know we share so many of the same!!! We are SO like minded!!! ;o) The elves are adorable! What a truly cute addition to the holiday festivities!!! Those rascally little devils though!!! They better be good to you this year! I definitely think Santa needs to bring you an extra good gift this year for putting up with them.......let's just say, um, a new digital camera? With like 8 megapixels?
