Got My Rate Lowered - but a little worried

I called reservations back today to see if any more discounts had become available since I first made our reservations a couple of weeks ago. I was able to get the Entertainment Card discount for the first three nights. This is what we’ve got at RPH:

Dec 20/21/22 - $110 Entertainment Rate
Dec 23 - $143 AAA Rate
Dec 24/25 - $197 AAA Rate

For some reason, the nights on the Entertainment discount had to be done as a different reservation and they had to charge a separate deposit for those nights. I wasn't crazy about that but I said ok. The reservation agent (Justin) also also said that because it is two different reservations, that they may ask us to switch rooms on the 23rd. I never understood why. He said he would link the reservations and note that we wanted to stay in the same rooms, but he was required to tell us that we might have to change. I’m not sure what all that was about, but I said OK. Then after he said it would be two different reversations, he said that we will keep the same confirmation number. That seems strange. If it is the same confirmation number, then why did they have to charge another night's deposit.

The 3 nights of Entertainment discounts will save us about $200 (we have two rooms). Justin said that there won’t be any more discounts, that we have the best rates we can get for these nights.

But now I'm feeling a little nervous. Justin did not inspire a lot of confidence. Has anyone else had different rates for different nights, and did they have to put down multiple deposits? Were you asked to switch rooms?

Justin also said that we might not get a confirmation letter until a couple of weeks before the trip. That’s stupid. They should send them out as soon as the reservation is made. I guess I'll wait a few days and call back and just get a confirmation on the phone that everything is cool.

Thanks for any reassurance you can offer.

I'm with you... call again in couple of days. You'll probably get someone different. Check if they have it the same way in the system. I would be pretty satisfied with that.

I'd phone Loews central reservations and ask. They seem to know what they are doing when very often the hotels don't.

We also had a rate change during our stay and had to pay a 1 night deposit for our AAA rate and another for our AP rate. I also thought it was kinda strange when you have the same confirmation # but I didn't ? it. We did not have to change rooms and our reservationist never mentioned anything about that. Like everyone else is saying I would call loews or the hotel directly to confirm everything.

I called the number Damo suggested (thanks Damo!), to see if I could get a confirmation that would make me feel a little better. I spoke with an Andrea, who seemed to have more on the ball than Justin, BUT - she started going over the reservation and it WAS all screwed up - wrong arrival date, wrong names. Oh no!  :( She put me on hold for a few minutes, came back and said that I didn't need to worry, (yeah, right), that the reservation is ok, but it needs "a little cleaning up". What does that mean?!?! She said that "Special Services" would call me back within 48 hours and get everything straightened out and in the meantime, I didn't need to worry about anything. So that means that I WILL be worrying until I hear from them.

My husband thinks I'm on some kind of global list that companies use of people that they should annoy. Every time something goes wrong, he says it is because I'm on "the list". I'm starting to think he may be right.

I'll update again when I hear from "Special Services".

If i were you i'd sit tight and wait. Other than making sure your dates are held don't worry about that rate just yet. You got three days at ent rate because that's low season and it was offered up till the 22nd i think. Then high season kicks in and the only thing that will be available is the AAA rate. Now last year i book simialar dates as your last part of your ressies. I called up and ask for any promo rate! This was about september or so. I was quoted like 209 or something for garden view rooms that was a rate better than aaa at 229.00. So the week before we left i called back and asked again what rates were availabe and was told AP rates where just released! So I ended up with 159 on my garden view rooms (2) i just asked them to apply that to my current ressie and it was no prob! I'm lowes gold so when we checked in i was given an upgrade to a Villa suite over looking the bay for an extra 35 bucks! So just be patience make sure you got your dates held but I won't make ressie's till sept or so again. If you have specfic concerns about your ressies' call the hotel directly and ask for guest services they would be happy to help you and i feel i have always gotten fantastic results with them. I book thru the number damo gave then call gs and make requests and review my ressie.

I recently made a reservation for 12/03 at HRH. I have a fanclub rate for 12/22 & 12/23, and AAA rate for 12/24. I only had to put down one deposit. I think I will call and double check the reservation after reading this to make sure that the deposit covered all 3 nights!
