I am so excited, I just got home with my new "TOY". I bought the kit with the 28-135 lens. The only thing I wasn't able to get at our local camera shop today was a uv filter for the lens. I cant wait to set up my studio lights and start shooting. I have to take the seniors portraits at our school in November. Wish me luck.

congrats, I have had mine for about a month now and love it. Haven't used the 28-135 lens as I am planning on just selling it.

ohhh congrats on your new toy. Can't wait to see some of your photos with it.

Are you just loving it? I have had mine for about a month now and sure love it! :) It is so nice! :goodvibes Congrats!

Have fun with your new camera, I've had mine a little over a month now and love it. It's a great camera.

Thanks everyone, I didn't have a lot of opportunity to play with it yesterday, but today i am going to get out an practice. I might set up my backdrops and lighting to see how it goes. I had a hard time deciding whether to spend the extra for the 5D, but I think for now this will be a great camera and it will give me the option to buy some new lenses also. .

I finally did it - I've ordered my 40D to replace my 350D (Rebel XT). Should get it on Saturday morning which gives me 4 weeks to practice before I get back to WDW :cool1:

Let me know how get on with yours !

As someone that just made the same jump I can say your going to love it. Take a little bit of time to figure out when spot metering will help you, or hurt you, that was one of the big things it took me a bit to figure out.

But it helped tremedously with Fantasmic, I wasn't blowing out Mickeys face any longer.

Thanks for the advice - will definately play around with it :surfweb:

I just got my new one yesterday. Can't wait to use it at my son's "Super Bowl" championship football game tomorrow. Any advice on settings? I'll be using it with my 70-200 f2.8 L lens.

I am upgrading from the original Digital Rebel so I am very excited to play with it.

Are you under the lights?

If so, I would put it at ISO 1600 to 3200, open the lens wide up, turn of the IS and put it on a monopod, and get down on the sidelines if at all possible.

these were taken in that manner, but I couldn't get on the field I was ground level but on the far side of the track

It looks like it will be cloudy. Game is at 11:30 am. I usually shoot in P mode but thought about going to maybe shutter mode. What do you think, maybe ISO 200 or so?
