Short scoop: It was fun, but basically, they're just handing out balloons. If this isn't likely to make you giggle with delight, you may want to skip it - and I wouldn't travel too far out of my way just to grab a balloon.

Okay, now for the whole story:
I am driving my DH crazy, I'm sure - but it was fun! :yay:

I head to work about 20 minutes outside of Boston at 1 pm on Mondays, so I though we'd take a chance and see what we could see of the "What will you celebrate?" tour this morning.

The team is scheduled to be in Boston's Downtown Crossing today from 11 to 5, so we got there about 11:15. We parked a few blocks away and as we walked closer I could start to see... Mickey balloons!

Just a few at first, tied to strollers or being held onto by other foks walking in the area. As we approached, I started to squeal (how embarassing to do outside of the World! :scared: )

They were everywhere - big, beautiful, colorful bunches of them. It was awesome!!! :thumbsup2

They had two vehicles with trailers and the van that is shown on the website parked along the street. On one trailer are Hp computers that run the website promos - I didn't see anything new - and on the other trailer are computers to use to register your birthday. On top of the two cars are giant inflatable red balloons as well.

Each ballon has a golden envelope at the bottom of the string - just like in the promos. I did not have a chance to open mine yet, but I'm guessing it must contain the balloon code that they asked for on the registration site.

We took pictures but I'm at work now and can't upload them until later tonight, so they'll have to wait a while. What a fun way to start the workweek!

They cancelled the event in Prov. today, I was disappointed. :sad1: I thought it was a great way to get the kids excited about our trip next week. Not that they need much more excitement about it!:cheer2:

I feel so bad, when I went on-line this morning and googled the Celebration to find out the time, and the site I found said it was cancelled.

I just went to Prov. City Hall and the Disney people were across the street at Kennedy Plaza handing out balloons. It was empty! I got several balloons for my kids and told them about the posting on-line. They had to close up the computers because it was starting to rain.

But now I feel awful if anyone cancelled their plans to head down there because of what I said. :sad1:

OHHHH - where do i find out info about this tour? when it will be where? i totally have to see that!

What did you google? What site were you on? I can't seem to find any info on the Pittsburgh tour.

I'm sad they are not coming to OK, but on the lighter side, we were watching TV last night and the new commercial came on "What will you celebrate"

So what comes out of my 40 year old DBFF's mouth?? "We're still going to celebrate MY birthday at WDW next year aren't we?" LOL I laughed and said, yup, we're going to WDW for your birthday next year. (she sounded like an extatic 6 ear year old it was humorous)

Up until yesterday I didn't even know she wanted to go, I've been talking about it for 4 months now, and every time I heard, but it's FL in JULY, I don't know if I want to go...then she see's a commercial about Celebrating your birthday and she's all in. Too funny!!

I googled it again for you all I can find is that it is at Southside Works - does that make sense? Ours started at 11:00AM and went to 2:00PM. Hope that helps.

Yes thanks. I know where SS works is...fortunately it is very close to my office so I can run down there sometime between 11-2 and check it out.

Thanks! I went down shortly after 4 and got my golden tickets!!:cool1:

There wasn't much else going on....too bad, I would liked to have seen more "celebration" like some characters!!!! I didn't see any character or balloons, was kinda bummed.:sad2:

I'm glad I didn't make the drive from Canonsburg with my son! Wonder if the times were wrong online and they gave away all the balloons before 4pm? :confused3

I went yesterday in Pittsburgh too! Very disappointed. We drove an hour and were not impressed. I got a golden ticket and cannot find where to enter the code once I am on the web site. We went to Bettis' for lunch and saw an older girl walking with a balloon by Heinz Field. I was soooo excited. When we got there, absolutely no balloons. They did not even finish setting up until almost 4:30. I asked a nice girl about the balloon I saw and she said they gave them out in downtown! and that they did not have any left! So I took the day off work for a Mylie Cyrus poster and a sheet of Sleeping Beauty tattos? It could have been much better!!!

They had none! They were not even completely set up for the event at 4 and then when I asked the CM, they said, "Check with "insert some name" and she might knopw whats going on, she was suppose to be responsible for the balloons.":sad2:

I couldn't find where to enter the code either. I even asked a CM while I was down there and they said they had some kinks in the system and to check it out later and they might have them worked out.  :sad2: Sheesh Disney!!!! Get your act together!:teacher: They always seem to have kinks in their new systems

I would love to know why they were handing out balloons downtown.:headache: They were never even scheduled to be there and why they didn't have any for those of us that came to the South Side Works?!

BTW, How was lunch at Bettis' place? I have been really wanting to try it.:goodvibes
