WOOHOO!!! I am so excited we got our Grand Villa! :cheer2:

I called right at 9 am and got a Jambo house 1 floor Grand Villa for 8 adults, 2 children, and 1 infant. I even was able to request 2 specific units, keep your fingers crossed I get one of the ones we requested. DH is very concerned he will be upset if he doesn't get it! Me? I will be happy I will be in WDW! Now DH just needs to get a job so we can pay for it!

Congratulations! We got ours yesterday at 9:00 AM. There will be 12 of us (7 of whom are 17 year olds) so we went with OKW for the extra room. Can't wait till next April!

Cpgrats to both of you on the GVs! We loved staying in one at SSR!

Is OKV your home resort? We're looking at trying to get one for Feb. 2010 at the 7mth mark there and I'll call as soon as MS opens, but I hope I can switch! If not, I'll take any GV but I wanted the lower points at OKV this time around.

I bet the 17 year olds will have so much fun!

And OP, good luck to your DH about a job!

OKW is my home resort. We've stayed in a Grand Villa in Hilton Head but never at WDW. Can't wait! It looks as though we'll be there at the end of August as well. We have 143 points that we must use or lose by August 31. Since we'll be going in April I figure it really won't be too much money if we take advantage of the DVC Annual Pass discount. My husband is also out of work, so it's a little worrisome, but when we did all the figuring, since we have the points and the tickets will cost us a total of $344 (for 4 of us) more than we'll be spending if we just go in April, it seems to make sense. Luckily I still have my job and he has some projects on the burner.

We figure DH will be working again in around 6 months. He has a lead for a job at his old employer, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that he gets that one. However, this means we will have to pay some of his severance back, but worth it to have his old salary and benefits back.

If he isn't working by that point, then we will still go, but we will definitely drive and just spend more time at the resort, and won't buy tickets.

Our home resort is AKV, and the reason we purchased it was so we could see the animals. We are members at our local zoo cause DH is a major animal lover. I just wished they would have opened it for sales sooner so I could have convinced him to buy DVC a lot sooner! :)

Shortypots, I see you are in Durham. My family is in Raleigh. If we do go to WDW this August we will drive down to save money on airfare (after all, this trip was not planned and is to use up points), and we'll stop off in Raleigh for a day on the way down and again on the way back north. We will use this stop in NC for my son to make a second visit to Duke, he wants to have another look and possibly sit in on a class or two.
I still have to convince my husband that this trip is a good idea and sell him on the fact that it will cost us very little out of pocket money for a well needed vacation.
The April trip is set in stone and he is pretty psyched about that one, as are the rest of us. It will be a "last vacation together" experience for my older son and his friends who will graduate from High School 2 months later. I see that we'll be there at the same time. We love Disney in April (except Easter week!).

We are hoping April will not be as hot as May, and I love the flower festival.

My niece and nephew are going to be 5yrs old so will be starting school in August so we felt it was the best time to go. My nephew will be with his mother all summer in the future, so the only way we will be able to take family trips is by taking them out of school, but that is up to their parents I suppose. Don't think that will be too hard of a sell. We bought the points assuming we were going to be taking a family trip every other to every 3 yrs.

You are very brave to take 7 teenagers to DW. I don't think I would have that kind of nerve! We will be there from April 11-18 (it was the first day after premier season).

Right now we are trying to figure out if we are going dining plan or eating some meals in the room. I guess that will depend on what the prices and changes are for 2010. When can we actually start making ADRs? With 11 in our party, I want to make sure I call in the first day.

Now DH just needs to get a job so we can pay for it!
Hey, the hard part is done, you got the GV :cheer2: Congrats!
Good Luck on the job front!

Shortypotts- You can make your ADRs 90 days prior to check in.
We arrive on Sat. April 10. I know our first night is still premier season (and a Sat. to boot!), but we really have no choice. With so many people and flying, etc. we need the extra day. We must fly home on Saturday night due to obligations, otherwise we would have gone Sunday - Sunday. This way we can stay until the evening on our final day and get an extra day in the parks.

I was trying to avoid those huge points for a Sat, so we are doing Sunday to Sunday. I will say hi if I see you and a bunch of 17 yr old boys! I know you will be the frazzled one! :)
