Now that I have my Disney Visa, what are the in's and out's of having this beautiful thing!? I know that I will get 1% back on it, but what about codes and other benefits? Can anyone help me here? LOL I've very excited! Now we just need to get our miles card and we are all set for our next trip! he he

read the fine print carefully... one of the big benefits is that if they offer the free DDP package, it is often offered to Disney Visa holders first.

But only in Aug. and Sept. thought right? I just can't see going when it's that hot, but then again if it's with another adult and not the family I think I could think about it. he he

Also, did you mean to read the fine print carefully because of bad things to watch out for, or only good things?

Disney Dollars! We charge practically everything we can to our Disney cards, ( yes Dh has one & I have one) we load up on the disney dollars, then use them to pay for our most of our food during our trips! ( we do pay off the card each month, so we don't pay any interest charges)

Agreed! I won't be charging on this thing except what I would normally budget for normal things and then pay it off before it's due. Can you pay online, or do you have to wait for your statement, or the better question is how do you pay it off before the interest happens? If that's to personal just say so, and I will mind my own business. LOL Or if you'd rather, PM me. I'm having dh get a miles card, so he will be using that to pay for the bigger things on the budget so we can rack up the miles before we go, hopefully we won't have anything to pay for once the trip comes. Yipeeee!

You should register at the Disney Rewards Visa website and give them your email address. That way you'll get email notifications when the special offers come out.

I have mine connected to my Chase account, so I pay every month directly from there. I am sure there's a way you can set up a Chase account if you don't have a checking account...just go to their website.

As long as you pay the full amount by the due date, no interest will accrue.

LOVE this card, totally use it for ALL the stuff I would normally have to pay out of pocket...
Like the WHOPPING $600. oil delivery bill (didn't even FILL the tank) and the cesspool cleaning 399. ALL THIS MONTH, OUCH...

BUT, by trip time we'll have some spending money.

I think it is great since I also pay it off each month, so to reallocate it to the card was a no brainer for us! If however you're gonna just buy stuff that you would not normally, or not afford, THAT IS DANGEROUS!!!

Get rid of it!! We've had it for four years and the 1% rewards back just didn't cut it. Yes there are some "Visa Only" perks, but not so much that it warrants keeping a card with the rate this one holds.

I have had my card for a couple of years now and I finally got tired of using a charge card all the time just to try and get the points. It just seemed that for the amount of money I seem to spend that the return was not really worth it. 1 point for every $100. I still have the card but rarely use it. For me the perk of putting off payment for six months on a Disney Vacation really bothered me since I always pay it off anyway. I guess if you consistently have very large purchases it might work but if you read the fine print there is a limt on how many disney points you can earn in a certain time period. Just my opinion.

We were able to accumulate over $600 on our card for our last trip - paid for almost all of our food. Once we knew we were going to Disney, we charged everything to our Disney Visa. Since it has no annual fee and we pay it in full each month, it cost us nothing. It might not be the biggest payout among visa cards, but it is a wonderful way to get free money for a Disney trip. Using the points is a snap. You make a request for a "debit type" card and have the disney dollars transferred over. After that it works at Disney just like a debit card. I simply loved handing that thing over after a wonderful meal knowing I just gorged myself for free!

I know! This is part of what made me get it! I'm so excited about being able to use it for everyday uses and know that I will have money I wouldnt' have had before just because I'm spending money I would have spent anyway! If I know that I'm going to spend a certain amount every month and I can make that work for me then why now, right?

I agree with the previous 2 posters. We easily accumulated $500 in reward dollars for our upcoming trip in April that we will use at Disney for whatever. I am not sure what APR an earlier poster has on their card that was "high," but ours is 9.99%, which isn't horrible these days, and as many people have mentioned, we also pay it off each month so we don't pay any finance charges (and accumulate reward dollars quicker for upcoming trips).

I will say, however, that we do have a couple of other credit cards with higher rebates (we charge everything, personal and business) - some as high as 2-5% - that we can add to our kids' college 529 plans, or direct elsewhere, which we usually switch back to in "non-Disney" trip years....

Last summer, Chase Disney Visa had a contest where everytime you used your card you got an entry into the contest. We won!!! All expense paid trip to Disney. We get to stay in the Grand Floridian, get the platinum plan and plane fare. We can't wait to go. Other benefits is that you earn Disney dollars. We put everything on our card each month and then pay it off. The dollars really add up fast. You can use the dollars in the Disney store, on-line and on property.

Wow, people actually win those contests!? I'm amazed, as I thought they were all hoaxes. Congratulations!

Yes, you can pay online. As soon as you get your first bill just go to the web site on the bill and register to pay online. The web site may be on your card also, I can't remember. I go on line as soon as I get my bill and schedule the payment for a couple of days before it is due. I check the box to pay the total due in full. You can pay anywhere from the minimum due to the full amount. As long as you pay the full amount each month no interest accrues.

Are there perks at the parks? I heard there is a character greeting you need the Disney Visa card to get into?

Anything else?

This past Nov there was a character meet and greet inside Innovations in Epcot for Disney Visa card holders.
