Got LASIK...pleased as punch!

I got LASIK on June 2. By the next day I could see the blades of grass in my backyard!

I would recommend this procedure for anyone who is tired of the glasses/contacts dependency. Expensive? Sure. Worth every penny, and then some? ABSOLUTELY.

The best part? When DH and I get to WDW in September, I can do it glasses- and contacts-free!!!

Wendy, I have been debating about this for so long. I have to check into the cost, but I think I just may do it! I have had very thick glasses (contacts now) since I was 8 years old, I think it is time!

my eyes where 20/900 and 20/650 and Im 20/20 now, I had about 5 years ago and still love it

I had mine in April--am now 20/20 as well, although I need 1.0 reading glasses sometimes in low light--I was told that would happen because I had progressive lenses--I would MUCH rather pull out the readers occasionally then worry about glasses/contacts every waking minute!

Congrats! I had LASIK over 2 yrs ago and it was the best $$ I ever spent. I went from 20/800 to 20/20!
Oh and it's the best at WDW without contacts/glasses.

Talk to those around you. You will fine, just as I have, that people who regretted getting LASIK are hard to find. Success story after success story finally convinced me this is a safe and good thing to do.

I know what it is like. I had it done and have been very happy. My DZW (Dear Zurgswife) gave it to me as a Christmas present a few years ago and I have been thrilled since.

I got a great deal and only paid $570.00 per eye in Montreal!

Oh and only took appx. 2 minutes per eye. They offer something to relax you if you need it and they numb your eyes so you don't feel a thing.

Same with me, the procedure only takes about 2 minutes each eye while you stare at a red laser light. You don't feel a thing! For me, it was the 36 hour recoup that was aweful! I was almost totally blind. I couldn't even open my eyes! The 2nd morning, I awoke with no pain and seeing clear! Thank heavens!
The most important aspect of the surgery.... trusting your doctor.
I had complete confidence in him and knew I was in good hands!

My cost was about average: $1200/eye.
Like the others said, YOU DO NOT FEEL A THING. They put a clamp on your eyelids so that you do not blink. The numbing drops do wonders to settle the eye down.

Like Cindy said, trust in your doctor is VERY important. I had the option to drive 20 miles to go to Canada and save a few hundred dollars, but the confidence in my doctor was worth all of the extra money, in my opinion. Let's face it, these are our eyes! And if you have a very, very good doctor (like me), he does an amazing job of calming you down and making you feel like nothing wrong is going to happen.

Most doctors do give you a valium (sp?) to relax you. Mine did. Although honestly, he calmed me down far more than the pill did.

I worked in an office for about 4 years that performed Lasik, I had it myself in Oct. 99. We saw very few problems. I went myself from 20/450 to 20/20, I am now however about 20/40 because I had a baby last year, and pregnancy after the surgery may affect vision. It is still much better than the depending on glasses or contacts in my opinion.
