Got food poisoning

I wasn't talking about how Disney handles its cases. I was talking about my families experience. Additionally I was pointing out the exact response that you provided on this board. But no, many other things cause *similar* but not all symptoms.

Thanks because I appreciate the info. I had several blood tests done. I guess I'll read the hospital reports more in depth. Again, I'm not claiming it myself. The doctors told me I didn't have any virus or other illness and they believe it was food poisoning. However from what I can read, my reports don't specifically say that even though it was what I was told. I guess that would leave me out of luck but I'll re-read them

Also I was not going out of my way to claim something from disney. I was letting guest services know what happened so they would check for the sake of other people. They suggested I go to disney claims about it

Were you treated with antibiotics?
I was given zofran (I believe that's how you spell it) for the nausea. I was severely dehydrated so I was hooked up to an IV for fluids. They only gave me things I was deficient in (such as potasium) after that

I've gotten sick from Disney food, but it was likely my stomach just not agreeing with having a fatty/indulgent meal 3x a day for an entire week. I think when most people get sick from Disney food, including vomiting, they assume it's food poisoning. Just because something makes you very ill and vomit doesn't qualify it to be actual poisoning caused by food. Unless the hospital ran tests there and could verify that it was food poisoning, it likely wasn't. I would still file something with Disney claims, letting them know that their food made you ill. Let them know what treatment you had to undergo and the impact it had on your vacation. I would not, however, use the words food poisoning unless it was an actual hospital diagnosis.

So just to warn you that there are many Diz apologists on this board who will demand your doctor license and all the blood work tests if you claim to have gotten sick from Disney food. I haven't even read the replies so far but I can probably name many of the folks who have already donned their armor and shields to tell you that it is something else. But to answer your question, yes, my daughters and I did get food poisoning after eating at the pecos bill salad bar 4 years ago. Although ours only took a couple hours to make its presence known.

You severely undermine your credibility when you state that haven't bothered to read the replies in this thread before making disparaging remarks about other members of the site.

I don't believe that to be true, but we can agree that you disagree with me. What I can report is that I have already been "severely" proven correct I can point out many times when this subject has come up that the "armed defenders" pounce on the OP, and as I predicted it started before my second post. So I feel very secure in my comments. "Severely" secure. :)

It is fine to feel confident in your own opinion, but believe it or not, some of those Disers you are disparaging have medical backgrounds. We know what steps need to be taken to correctly identify a food borne illness, and the differential diagnoses that are probable in cases of GI illnesses.

No one is demanding doctors credentials, or donning armor and shields. Simply trying to inform the OP of the normal protocols necessary in cases of actual food borne illness, and the possibility of other sources of his illness. Certainly nothing to be condemned for. I would have posted exactly the same thing if the OP had been visiting anywhere, not just at WDW. The OP posted about his very unfortunate experience. Some of us have attempted to share some of our fact based knowledge in the area, rather than just personal lay opinions.

I appreciate the opinions but I was going by what the doctors and nurses told me and not self diagnosing myself. I just really wanted to know what was the process and what disney claims needed in a case like this

The doctor didn't tell you what it was for sure. He told you what he thought it likely was.

I understand, and I don't think anyone was saying you were trying to self diagnose. I haven't had to deal with Disney claims, but I would think they might request access to your complete file from the hospital. You could also contact the hospital and ask if PH had been asked to get involved. Once you contact their claims depth, they will tell you what info they need. Then they will investigate. From what I have read, this can take quite some time, so you'll need to be patient. As I said in my previous post, that particular investigation lasted over a year before the final report

Food poisoning, towel animals, upgrades, tipping non servers, pool hopping, giving up one's seat on the bus/monorail for a woman or elderly, letting little Johnny leave a long line to go potty and come back and etc. always make for some entertaining reading... This one is no exception. LOL

You forgot breast feeding.

I mentioned BF'ing on page 1. ;-)

The bottom line is that without the actual written diagnosis and accompanying test results (which would have gotten the involvement of public health if there was a positive result) the OP is likely to get squat from Disney.

I don't get how it's funny. It was a serious inquiry of the process. I usually just roll with the punches but going to the hospital was a big thing for me. It shouldn't be compared to pool hopping or giving up a seat on the monorail

I think your taking what I said the wrong way. My post is directed to the many responses when these posts such as yours come up. They often get heated and argumentative. Your experience was neither pleasant nor funny... I get what you were asking. Your new to the DIS and may not realize your topic and the ones I mentioned almost always result in much debate. I apologize you took it the wrong way, it truly was being supportive of your post.
